Probably not until TSLA literally runs out of money and closes its doors.

This Navigant Research Leaderboard evaluates 19 companies developing automated driving systems. These players are rated on 10 criteria: vision; go-to market strategy; partners; production strategy; technology; sales, marketing, and distribution; product capability; product quality and reliability; product portfolio; and staying power. Using Navigant Research’s proprietary Leaderboard methodology, vendors are profiled, rated, and ranked with the goal of providing an objective assessment of their relative strengths and weaknesses in the development and deployment of automated driving technology.
Typical TS... Whenver he posts a link, you know it's not going to end being what he thinks it is.

Look I know you live in an alternative reality, but WTF? This is a report on the state of autonomous driving by a major and well regarded industry research company. They do everything from natural gas industry research to litigation research. They predicted the tight shale gas boom, for example. If you want an expert take on the industry, this is as expert as you get.

I've literally listed the criteria they took to assess the companies. I am not sure what you don't understand. This is not an assessment of the autonomous driving technology but an assessment on their relative strength in things such as vision for autonomous driving or partners. If you cannot understand why this is not objectively measurable, I don't know what to tell you.

Tesla's strength in SDC is Musk can convince tens of thousands of people to pay tens (even hundreds) of thousands of dollars for the privilege of beta testing Tesla software.

This means as soon as the tech reaches a certain threshold, Tesla will be first to market, even if someone else gets a working system first and Musk needs a year to buy the tech to catch up. In a shorter time frame, as soon as Musk redirects his attention to SDC, it's basically a certainty he'll buy the engineers and tech on the market and then feed the new hardware/sofware with data that other manufacturers don't dare collect.

Under these circumstances, current rankings are almost irrelevant.

I mean, you literally quoted five things in that list that are an assessment of the autonomous driving technology.

Reality just slides right by you. It's truly bizarre. That you think a well respected industry research company aren't ranking on the underlying technology is comical. You're like that interviewer who can't understand anything but her own projections, even when laid in black and white. For your sake, for humanity's sake, do something about it man.

grizy,
No, beta testers aren't a strength. If they were, Tesla would be leading instead of in last place. Beta testing with real drivers is basically worthless in developing autonomous driving. DUCY? As for the rest, consider my mind blown in how diverged that is from how the real world works.

This is approaching cult member level of stupidity in the face of contrary evidence.

Could you quote those 5?

Or make it easy for you, technology yes/no:
vision: no
go-to market strategy: no
partners: no
production strategy: no
technology: yes
sales, marketing, and distribution: no
product capability: yes
product quality and reliability: yes
product portfolio: no
staying power: no

They say nothing about the weights on this either. Given that they want to sell consulting services and they are not a industry research company (this is just lol), I doubt that technology is something they understand.

Meanwhile, TSLA at $350 and NFLX at $250.

Transparent PR move to set up a big target fairy tale narrative, like lying and saying the first of "Fully Self Driving" would come in 3 to 6 months from January 2017 (selling the idea that Tesla's about to pull ahead permanently on self driving - you better get in now!), like claiming that the M3 will be at 5000/week run rate by last month (you better get in now!). It's a big lie to own the PR narrative and set up big numbers and a bright future in the brains of morons and the FOMO addicts. Musk is basically nerd Trump.

The future PR plays off this are also great. For example, the day after making the announcement, he got to say this in an interview and have it widely reported because it went with the unusual pay deal: “I actually see the potential for Tesla to become a trillion-dollar company within a 10-year period”. Interviewers will ask, for weeks, why he did this, allowing him to set the narrative and headlines. Analysts will ask him about it during the next conference call after whatever disaster M3 numbers they reveal.

Whether you're a bull or not, it puts the idea in your head. It's classic PR. It's the same thing Trump does when he trolls the media to get them to talk about a topic. Tell a big lie that people can easily grasp and that sticks in their head and associate with your company and that you will get endlessly deferentially asked about so you can set the narrative.

It's definitely a thing. The answer: Tesla fans and shareholders.

I give you exhibit A:

Multiply that level of stupid by a few million people and you have Tesla's market cap. That should terrify the shorts.

Yes that video clearly seems like people with lots of shares (watched the first dude).Whether or not Tesla is a good investment at this level (I think not) that video is hilariously awful proof that “cucks” are driving the price higher. Does your girlfriend know about your cuckold obsession?

It's a term that gentlemen used in the late 1800s to describe someone hilariously weak and acting against their self interest. You're on the ones obsessed with it, to me it's a word like "loser" or "imbecile", except with a more precise meaning (it implies a specific kind of contemptible weakness, like how all your minds shut down and failed to function on where Tesla was on autonomous driving).

And the video perfectly highlights the bizarre cult-like obsession with Musk, which distorts reason and infects this thread also. Ford is crushing Tesla on every metric - reliability, delivery, use of robotics, profit, revenue, ROIC, output per employee, etc. Crushing. No one is treating the Ford CEO like this though. No one would believe the Ford CEO if he claimed that Ford was going to have "Fully Self Driving" by the end of last year, or if he whined like a incompetent loser about "production hell". The difference is that the Ford guy is competent and not a fraud/liar/desperately trying to create a cult of personality to keep his stock price up.

Hmmm, "cuck" was used by 19th century gentleman and that's why you started using the term? Maybe! I know it's also used by modern day alt right racists as well. I'm sure the reader can determine which is the more likely influence on you.

I don't think it's put a precise number on the value of Musk's cult but I am sure it would be in the billions... of cold hard cash that he can convert by doing some loltastic 5-10 year preorder.
