So i started investing last year and because if my beginner strategy (buy low sell high) i did not invest in a couple of stocks on my Watchlist because i thought they should come down before i put money in.

Those Stocks were:
IFX (+30% in 2016)
ROM (+50% in 2016)


I had those stocks in my mind because 2016 was the year were everybody did talk of the Internet of Things. IoT is basically just connected sensors to measure and regulate all kind of things (machines, health, etc.). In principle we do this since decades, so why is it a big thing?

1. Every CEO on Earth thinks it will magically generate money
2. It is great technology.


What company's will profit? CEO´s all around the globe are overhyped and every company past a certain size will start projects to see whether or not this could enhance their processes. My opinion of this is, that it is a 21th century gold rush, the good claims are already established (Google, Amazon,) and it is hard to tell who else will come up because most company's will just waste moderate amounts of money.

However the miners don't matter, but there are people selling the gear, which is were we come back to IFX and ROM. They sell the hardware (semi conductors) for IoT. When i searched for it, all listed semi conductor producing company's that i found performed great in 2016.

Is this already the peak or just the beginning?

My gut says it is the beginning, since IoT itself is a topic that just will grow bigger with time, especially in the health industry. + within the next few years we will just put more and more processors everywhere. On the other hand, much of it is just a hype but due to tech projects taking time, i see the hype holding up for a couple more years.

Well Semin Conductors seems to be a thing, picked up some IFX early this year and it is doing well.

Does anyone know some other semi conductor stocks?
