Did you faithfully record before and after prices for a basket of goods, and calculate a percentage difference? Just to be clear: it's your claim that they're lying about the prices in an easily checkable/verifiable prices of a basket of goods?

My family runs a grocery business and I know the prices first hand. Dad keeps saying prices keep increasing. You believe what u want and I’ll believe what I want. You do u, I’ll do me

Except this is an objectively verifiable thing. It's not a question of "believing" or opinion. We can measure this easily, and lots of groups do, from the government to private institutions.

Your dad saying "prices keep increasing" isn't a quantified statement. "Prices keep increasing" is exactly consistent with the inflation numbers we say today.

Did they increase 1% for your family? 5%? In meat or across a broad range? Is their little neck of the woods (delivery bottlenecks?) indicative of broader USA?

Let just say it increased more than the government is reporting. Does the government ever give u accurate numbers. Like employment and other stats. I don’t think so, so I take their numbers with some cautions.

Doesn't the government admit that they no longer track commodities in their CPI because they too short term volatile?

Will we see any support at 24? 9% drop today. I've got to dump it all back in, right?

It would appear not. So my options have lost about 65% of their value in a couple hours. Good stuff.

I think there's substantial further downside, but no guarantees.

My opinion is that gold and silver have dropped too much and are victims of panic selling from people not used to seeing red. Could the panic selling continue? Absolutely. Could GLD find support at 180 and SLV in the 22-23 area and then climb as uncertainty settles in again? Absolutely. I don't have any recommendations, am in wait and see / hold mode myself. I have a bunch of 8/14 calls that are drawing slim, so that sucks.

The way things are looking we could easily lose another 5% or more off of gold and silver tomorrow. It's just straight down, no relief in sight

I guarantee everyone on this board you have no idea how the Feds calculate the unemployment data.

+1

It's shocking to me that people don't realize that anything happening in the economy right now is just the appetizer, we still have many months to go for the main dish. People buying now and selling in a panic tomorrow just have no idea how bad it's going to get. If you're not buying and holding right now - and don't have at least a 2-3 year timeframe in mind - then just get out of the market and put your money into good padlocks and guns.

The wild ride continues, hell of a comeback so far today. No clue what happens next but I've been holding the bulk of my position in each GLD and SLV, took some profits but still pretty optimistic. <popcorn>
