And this is true. But there is something special about the precious metals. You are ignoring a great deal of history to just lump them in with other commodities.
They have been money for much of recorded history. And while it is clearly speculative, there is a good fundamental argument for them returning to that role.
In this case there is also a strong argument that the fiat experiment has fundamentally mispriced these “commodities.”
And rehypothecation, and other surprising schemes like GLD are quite real...
