also the alco segment was lol bad

and robert just needs to get the **** off the show. seriously... playing with a dog while the couple are trying to go through their business model, then talking it up and saying all these positive things... then as usual, not making an offer and wasting everyone's time.

There must have been something in the room that made her less than convinced. The only thing I don't get is once Daymond backs out of his offer what is stopping Lori from dropping her offer?

Kevin

Not to mention the owner was actually smart enough to let them keep bidding each other up. It was clearly a product Lori wanted and she paid the price.

I feel like Lori gets hustled a lot on that show. For whatever reason she doesn't project the same air of ruthlessness that the other sharks do. And I don't think it's any sexism on my part, because I feel like Barbara is definitely ruthless. I hate that on every show Lori has to tell at least one couple that she loves them. Gtfo and talk more business related stuff IMO

The alcoholic segment was hard to watch. Total train wreck. I fully believe the show (but not the sharks) knew she was an alcoholic. I mean, why else would they put someone on who has been in business for 6 weeks, no sales, with a product that has little differentiation, and as far as I could tell could be easily copied. She was cute, which may be partly why they put her on, but I really think it was to show the sharks are humans like the other poster said

As long as Damon doesn't tell Lori his strategy before the guy accepts the lower offer, he could still jump back in. Also, that seems really scummy to me, I doubt any of them would do that on national tv (maybe Kevin would)

because daymond already embarrassed the crap outta her. she'd only make it worse if she tried to drop her offer at this point. and kevin's offer isn't even that bad once he drops his royalty to 7.5c

I gotta imagine he is pretty bummed about not taking Cuban's deal. It seemed like he was pressured by his professor/mentor to not take the deal and walking out it seemed like he knew he should have taken it.

i looked into what coat chex is doing today.

My findings
When it first began, they made 50k in 5 months, from 2 venues. (was this ever mentioned on the show?)

They have no regrets turning down Cuban because he won't be there day-to-day. He (Cuban) can get coat chex into new opportunities, but finding opportunities isn't the problem. They need help with scaling. They are still in contact with him. He seems interested in hearing how they do during their testing phase. They hope he will eventually invest.

The pitch was an hour long but cut down to 10 minutes.

Exposure was great and they get hundred of calls and offers from private investors

Only just started expanding into new places like new york, chicago, dc.

Just from the top of my head, I think my favorite business is the dude who draws pictures of cats.

Mainly because there is zero risk, great margins, and each one can be done very quickly.

There's almost no downside to the business and only upside.

It's like a one in a million shot of it working out, but he nailed it.

There is a product called Eco Traction. I have heard this was very successful. It is now in 1000's of stores and used by a few municipalities. I think (might be wrong) the city of Buffalo NY is using it instead of salt and gravel.

I thought Daymond was just trying to save face for losing the auction. He wanted that product more than he let on.

That was a terrible choice. Mark Cuban is a really good guy to be in business with, and giving any college professor credit for any kind of 'experience' is usually insanely stupid. Business school professors live to embody 'those who can't teach'. There are exceptions in the economics department because academic positions are actually pretty plum jobs for economists... But management profs? Seriously? Those guys are dumber than boxes of unpolished rocks usually.

They've received offers from private investors at a higher valuation. I know Mark Cuban can bring a lot more to the table but who really knows how much time he can spare. He's a very busy man.

The kid and professor seem at least semi-intelligent. If they have the capital, I'm sure they can still make moves.

They still talk to Mark Cuban. If they succeed in their expansion, they think Mark will invest.

I thought that was when he was turning? I did think it would operate better on a sphere than a wheel, but I don't really know how feasible that is.

Regardless, it didnt look like too much fun to ride or very easy to ride for an everyday "cubicle" type of person to ride around in a downtown type vicinity.

Just wondering if Dragons Den UK or Canada should be discussed in this thread or a separate one?

I watch both those shows in addition to Sharks Tank
