Agreed, they were good.

Not sure why Daymond is in this video, but he mentions that Kevin had some piece in the deal so it seems that they did close a deal with him.

I think Daymond tweeted today that he took a loss on his other company that was competition to so he could be in on this one instead.

Not a big fan of altucher but he makes some interesting observations in this article for TC.

Was an interesting episode. I was surprised the glasses clip guy and the pretzel lady got as much as they did. Although lately all the sharks in general seem to be doing what Daymond always touts on his tweets. He says he invests in people not businesses. If the presenter shows promise they are much more likely to invest. If the opposite is true and the guy is a douche like the 5 minute shelf guy they will not.

also, fwiw, I'm gonna miss Lori and I think she is ten times better tv than Barbara.

yeah i agree , lori is awesome .you can tell she's the best salesman out of all of the sharks , she usually gets w/e she wants at w/e price point she wants .

Cuban really let the ion guy have it. I heard somewhere how some Australian "ion" bracelet company had to refund $$ to anyone who bought their product because the claims made were bogus.

Good article. The first comment links to an applicant questionnaire. People were discussing what exactly the company needs to give up to be on the show:

Quote:
I further understand and acknowledge that I will be required to enter into further agreements with Finnmax
LLC (“Producer”) relating to the business that I may present to the sharks for possible investment (my “Business”).
Among other things, those agreements are currently anticipated to provide that as a condition of my participation on
the Series, Producer, Sony Pictures Television Inc. and American Broadcasting Companies, Inc. (collectively the
“Shark Tank Entities”) or their designee(s) will receive an irrevocable option (the “Option”), to do either of the
following or neither, at their election and in their sole discretion:
1. Receive a 2% royalty of the operating profits of my Business or
2. Receive warrants that give the Shark Tank Entities or their designees a 5% equity interest in my Business.

yeah , power balance was huge story a few years ago , a ton of big name athletes endorsed it , espn did a couple features on it and how it was a scam ..and the company had to payback its customers on the basis of false advertising , not sure how that guy didnt get the memo .

from his reaction in the tank i think he knew full well and just didnt give a **** because he was making money.

cuban was totally in the right there imo. if more people were like that wrt crap like that the world would be a better place.

Hard not to agree with Cuban there. The guy made no attempt to even defend himself and clearly had no passion for the product to begin with. Love the panel they chose for this show.

I don't see why the ion bracelet couldn't be a decent company, if they had some disclaimer about it not actually doing anything.. with the top keywords and people being suckers for placebo-effect type things I bet it could be a legitimate business.

I think that any value the sharks would get out of the bracelet business would be offset by the damage caused to their reputations by being associated with a 'scam', appropriate disclaimers or not.

So I am catching up with some episodes from this season. Just saw the wine balloon guy. That was brutal to watch.

Although Cuban got a better deal out of it, I thought he was a huge dick. I think this negotiation showed a flaw with Cuban being on the show -- he's just got way too much money, so in a way, he doesn't take a deal seriously.

He clearly thought $600k for 100% was a profitable investment. The pressure he then put on the wine balloon guy was pretty lame. Since the wine balloon guy had the audacity to not appease Cuban's negotiating skills and ask for a royalty, Cuban's now bruised ego has to decrease his offer and influence the QVC chick who was clearly going to give this guy more money.

And I think the reason Cuban was able to do this is because he's so filthy rich. He simply does not care about risking losing a profitable investment to make him appear to "win." Whereas, if your net worth is $100 million, you would probably not **** around so much with a deal. But the guy did take the deal so maybe Cuban is just on much higher levels of thinking. I kinda wish balloon guy would have told Cuban about how he felt the deal was profitable at $600k and he could take it or he would leave.

Sometimes I love Cuban but sometimes I loathe him like I do Donald Trump as trying too hard to be a TV personality.

One nice thing from the CDN show is they show how past people have done on the show. Not only the deals they accepted but the ones they rejected. Some of their rejects have done very well.
This was one of the most successful ones

the American version has shown results as well, including how a couple of rejects have done. The shrimp burger guy is one example that we discussed recently ITT.

people say the same thing about poker players. "that guy was buying every pot, he has too big of a bankroll so he doesn't take the game seriously, etc."

the guy was a fool to turn down $600k the way he did. clearly he thought it was a great offer if he eventually accepted $400k.

yeah, cuban has a ton of money and doesnt need any of these deals, but if he lowballs a guy too much another shark will take it or the entrepreneur can get funding off the show.

bottom line...if you have a great idea and are very competent, you're getting funded. whether it's on shark tank or after the show, money will find the best opportunities.

Agreed I know on the CDN show a few people got rejected by the Dragons but got funded by someone whom saw the show.

He didn't turn it down. He just asked if they could add a royalty. That doesn't make him a fool, at all.

Granted, what you see on TV is a hyper-edited version of what actually takes place. Given the way things went down, my guess is that balloon guy did say something really stupid. I don't think what Cuban did was simply in reaction to what we saw on the show.

I agree him asking for a royalty was not out of line. Bottom line Cuban did not like him and took advantage of the situation

Good point that we don't see a lot of what goes on. I think Cuban said in that blog post that one deal can take over an hour.
