This is what I was thinking during the pitch as well.

Surprised there's no mention of Robert being among the cast for season 20 of ABC's Dancing with the Stars. I'm guessing he's the Shark Tank cast member they'd least want, since he's so vanilla; but the other four (Cuban was already on) probably had better things to do.

And chances are they didn't want to approach Kevin Harrington, who's now well on his way to becoming Brian Dunkleman 2.0, although in Kevin's case I think they got rid of him (right?) as opposed to him leaving only to see the show explode in popularity (like Dunkleman).

It was just Lori being dumb. Daymond at the start said he was willing to let everyone talk because other people might be able to help more and that was the important part. Lori just started blabbing during and after.

Would've been a good time for Cuban to just throw some money in just to mess with her.

have a general question, then some questions/comments about dragon/wekerle/etc.

general question ............ do the dragons/sharks have to put 100% their own money (of course with spouse) into these deals? or can wekerle for example do deals for his publicly traded quasi-VC firm? or does it have to be his own funds?.... even better example is that woman who is always promoting QVC relationship......

i see probably 3 sharks are leaving (dickinson, chitin, vij is rumored to be leaving)... i won't miss any of them (i'm semi-aquaintance of vij. didn't think he presented well on TV. great very genuine guy in person).

one thing that relates to my first general question: the $$$$ investment potential commitment for a whole season is very substantial for any shark/dragon who isn't seriously semi-liquidly loaded.........

i saw wekerle is putting $2MM into sponsoring some of canada's ski team (i think freestyle) for 4 years through 2018..... i wasn't sure at first but i'm guessing he doesn't get any direct financial return from that (i.e. part of those french canadian sisters who won gold/silver endorsement money). just publicity and goodwill of sponsoring them............ seems like a terrible deal. and i get the idea it might be for his publicly traded VC firm. or maybe wek is paying and will them just give difference capital free exposure.

he clearled stated that he would bring them to business parties. This guy has so many companies he sure can use them wisely. Plus whats 2MM for a country you love when you're loaded? He just upped his work-rep by 200%

No comments on either of the last 2 eps?

I loled at last week's episode when the guy took 30% for 300k from whoever it was rather than 20% for 300k from Robert. Can't even remember the product but yeah. Last night's episode was pretty good with the Glove guy at least. I honestly don't really see the appeal but I'm not a raver either. Guess people at Coachella and whatnot are gonna be all over that. Robert/Lori had a 20m valuation for his company but he went with Cuban/Damon for less. Probably a good choice. Not that I know anything at all about business. I thought the lingerie was a pretty good idea/product but she came off pretty awful.

lingerie chick seemed smart enough to know she was never ever getting a deal at that valuation. seemed to be just in it for the tv exposure, kinda surprised they aired her pitch.

SharkTank gets a percentage of equity when a business goes on

She definitely just wanted TV exposure

I think they got rid of that clause after Cuban threw a fit.

That was a great episode. Ya the Naya girl never came in for a deal, that was clear almost immediately.

The light glove dude really was the real deal. Was particularly satisfying to see Robert mad at losing that deal. With that company I think the sky is the limit if they can successfully take it out of the rave niche and into way more musics/uses. And even if they don't, that CEO in Cuban's wings is going to do great things on numerous other products.

I liked when the glove guy talked about bootlegging cds in his hardship story and they all smiled like they were proud of him and related.

Didn't know that. This whole discussion reminds me of the ScotteVest show. The owner had a successful smart clothing company with some profitable patents. His pitch was to start a new licensing company based on the patents alone. He didn't even mention the profitable clothing business on air since he didn't want to give up 2% of his company. The owner tells a pretty good story as to the negotiations w/ the Sharks too:

The gloves were so weird. I couldn't believe how much they've made so far. Gloving sounds like a weird fetish sex act.

It's been around for such a long time. In like 1997 I'd see people doing it at raves. They didn't have any technology nearly as good.

dude probably makes a ton off EDC alone. I'm glad none of the sharks preached to him about the cd's comment. was expecting one to get on a soapbox and talk about how it's stealing

I wonder if they would have if it was software he was stealing and hustling? Or counterfeit fashion? Or knock off patent pending devices? Surprised they didn't edit it out.

Who the hell calls it gloving? I go to many EDM shows in NYC and tons of people have these gloves but they use it to mesmerize people who are on drugs. There aren't competitions or showing off to groups of crowds because everyone thinks these people are weirdos. It's a fad in a niche market.

I thought he was talking about putting his own edm music on to CDs not stealing and burning bootlegs. I could be wrong though.

Having 80% share of a niche market that has been transitioning to main stream with things like EDC is a massively profitable place to be positioned.

It's been around forever though. I think the potential is actually moving it out of EDM, and into other scenes and he explained. Plus inventing a "sport" around it is tremendously clever. But frankly where I see the big profit potential is in licensing. You turn these into Iron Man gloves or Star Wars gloves? So much potential to market to 8 year olds. There's also a lot of potential in performance art/dance. A whole new branch of stuff geared heavily towards young women.

There's no sport to be invented, that's just hot air. There isn't that much room to grow in EDM for these things. If they really think these gloves will be useful in many other areas then god bless them because I don't see it.

The gloves are a fad, not EDM as a whole although you can argue that is as well.

Lingerie-chick had read Lean In a few too many times. Joke's on you Ms. arrogant Stanford MBA - no soup for you. Oh, and you know that Cuban was just dying to find ask how many times she had to blow the guy who gave her the crazy valuation. Even my wife cheered when she didn't get a deal.

As for the other episodes over the past two weeks, I thought the sorority gals were great. Young enough to still appeal to the demographic, yet savvy enough to be articulate and know how things work. They'll do well.

Odd that they brought back the meat guy. He's just bad as a mouthpiece. And how LOLtastic was it for a company to basically say "yeah, the guy who invented the truck seat and owns 85% had better things to do than show up." Oh lordy.

We can revisit in 5 years. Seems like a good place to start.
