Rental trailer question Rental trailer question

I really didn't know where to post this forgive me if this is the wrong forum. I have a house with a large back yard. I thought about buying a small trailer with it's own bathroom to park it in the backyard and rent it for extra income. I rather do this than rent a room in my house because I just don't like having strangers living in my house. The house has an entry to the yard which would give the renter his independent entry/exit and extra privacy.

I am no expert on trailers in fact I don't know much about them. I'm just wondering how they are connected to the house water/electricity supply and how difficult this is to set up/how long it takes. I'm wondering how much it would cost to set up the connection and if I would need any permits from the city or whatever for this.

I heard that constructing a small little house with a room in the yard would be way too expensive due to labor costs etc while a trailer has everything including the bathroom already in it. To me it sounds like a good investment which would pay for itself with rent every month and give me extra income.

Thanks for the info.

Sorry, I doni't believe it is going to work the way you are envisioning. If you are talking about a RV/Camper type of set up, They hook up with a hose and extention cord and propane tank and have a holding tank for sewage and waste water. You can see how that doesn't work well in a back yard. Also I belive they depreciate very quickly.

If you are refering to a mobile home that isn't designed to be pulled down the road every day the installation doesn't work in the back yard. You would have to dig up and tie into sewer. Bring in Power from the grid, gas fromn the grid and supply water from the grid. The cost in this set up are the same as you were warned about with building a little house. Even if it was finacially feasable it wouldn't fly with the city.
