What you will generally find is that sentiment indicators are basically a good indication of what has recently happened. When stocks are rising, sentiment is high, etc. You can probably get a pretty good sense of what has happened in the markets by looking at what has happened in the markets.
There has been some research on sentiment as a predictor*, but I haven't read any in years.** If you find anything good, please report back. You might find something additive to what you can get from looking at recent price trends and momentum.
