Price gouging ?! What's your opinion on it Price gouging ?! What's your opinion on it

capitalism and gouging people in desperate need due to extraordinary circumstance are not remotely the same thing

most people will not engage in the latter....... a few will, meaning we do need govt intervene for such cases

liberals will argue that "people in desperate need due to extraordinary circumstances" is a large category. it is not.

govt discouraging people to provide rental housing (i.e. rent control or strict building limits), thereby leading to sky-high rents is NOT "extraordinary circumstances". a tsunami is (and it might not be if you have them every year)

lastly, if my life depended on the government or amazon.com (could be walmart) delivering water to me 1000 milles from civilization, it'd take amazon any day of the week

p.s. i'm thinking of "surge pricing" vis-a-vis OP's question. astronomical hotel prices around coachella music festival does not require regulation. it is not unexpected and no one has to go to it. (noteerhaps very poor locals need some protection somehow around the event, but certainly not concert goers)
