Correct me if I'm wrong, but they can't just put $ into R & D, they need their current clients to come to them with work to do such a thing?
I know they speak about developing products with/for clients, but I'm sure they develop products on their own as well. Fairly sure I've seen something recently about working on new "Pro-Dex branded" products, which presumably they would be developing without collaboration from customer (maybe this was in the presentation, or the RVK interview?)

In the investor presentation they talk about developing their own products and technology to bring directly to market rather than relying solely on these contracts. This is higher risk but infinite upside where as the contracts are more low risk, capped upside.

Proxy materials filed yesterday, there is a note at the start from Van Kirk. It again mentions new Pro Dex branded product expected to be complete in fiscal 18, with "features the market has not seen before"

Any updated opinions on this?

Still probably a strong buy, they seem to be investing heavily in some sort of potentially very lucrative device that increases the risk of the investment. Could result in heavy returns and great price appreciation or a step or two backwards and stagnation for a while. Current core business is still very strong and the market doesn't reflect that well enough in my opinion.

Is it normal for companies to go 2 months between 10-K to 10-Q and 4 months between 10-Q and 10-K releases?

Yes, you get extra time to file a 10-K.

I figured it could be delayed because it is more extensive, just wondering if it is standard.

I think it's pretty standard. A 10-K requires a full audit of the company's books from an outside CPA firm before it can be released, a 10-Q just requires a quarterly review, which is a much lesser standard.

It's like a B&B, the #2 hotel in NYC on TripAdvisor. 22% interest, 18-20% fee in the event of prepayment, 10% warrant on the equity held: https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/d...dex_ex10z1.htm

yeah, i looked at all that. just think it's an odd investment for a med-tech company.

more interested in why ray would want half the deal going through pdex. and isn't 22% kind of high for that kind of loan?

22% seems super high, I'm confused

allocating capital at 22% interest seems smart to me

not really arguing pdex' standpoint here. that's smart investment if everything goes as planned.

but why would the hotel take a 22% loan?
given the tripadvisor rating it seems to be a good business.
if they need 2,3mil for a year and everything is fine, why not get it from a bank for better conditions? why get it from a minnesota-based investment company for 22%?

I have a similar thought to all of you. Definitely seems strange. 22% is obviously a great investment. Still just feels weird.

It's a bridge loan. Not meant for long term financing. Probably done quickly. I'm guessing next round of financing will be done through a bank for long term financing. But banks take time and sometimes got to sweeten up the loan for short term financing as a small business

Decent numbers tonight, about what i expected. Rev was maybe a little light but i expect most quarters to be in this $5.1-$5.6m range for the next few quarters. $1m of EBITDA per quarter looks be to about the runrate, maybe dipping a little for increased R&D expense going forward. Company is flush with cash now with $8m+ of cash/investments, zero debt.

Seems like its going to stay flat at these numbers even though it also seems like it should be higher.

Are you guys still loving the story?
I swung trade this earlier in the year for a little while just because of this thread.
I'm liking the reset we're doing technically and looking to re-enter....water still good?

I think the thesis that sees this at 9.50-11.50 still applies. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like the market agrees at these numbers. Its been pretty stagnant off two financial reports that should have seen it go up from the 7s. I was considering reducing my position because I've been over-invested for years but this is my fun money anyways and I don't have anything better to gamble on at the moment.

Check out the 8-K filed a few days ago with exec incentives for stock prices. I think it's still a great buy but yeah, market reaction, especially in this market, has been disappointing. What this stock needs is a hype Seeking Alpha write up.
