not necessarily. it really depends on where he wants to go and what path in finance he wants to take. MBA is certainly better if he wants to break into IBD, but i don't think its as clear cut for other roles. probably best to network, speak with people in the industry. ideally people who are either at the firms that you are interested/roles that you'd like to do and point blank ask them what would maximize your chances of breaking through. if you don't know anyone - consider buying a linked premium account and cold-message people asking for advice.
you won't hear back from some, but from the ones you do hear back, you build a connection and get an accurate answer.
