the suggested $1500/mo +50k down payment for $250,000 is reasonable enough for me.
Been playing for 10 years. Report variable income. Have tournament winnings etc

It's like any other type of self-employment. The tl;dr is that you'll need to provide X years of tax returns (think it was 3 for me), and it should go along fine.
The 20% down payment will allay most of the concerns.
