Yes, I got a Leading Edge clone in 1985 or '86. I used it solely for word processing, but even just for that one task, it was a huge improvement over the typewriter.

Around 1999, I got an Apple PowerPC G3 desktop with a modem connection to the Internet and my first email address. I had friends in Silicon Valley who worked at Sun Microsystems and Netscape; they were big proponents of computers, but I consider myself a late adopter. However, I worked in publishing and advertising, where desktop publishing was adopted very early on and Mac networks are the norm. Since 2010 I've used MacBook Pros and iMacs, both at home and at work.

My interest in cryptocurrency arises in part from the digital revolution I witnessed in my lifetime. When I was in high school in the 1970s, we had one landline in our house for seven people. I have two nieces in high school now, and they each have a MacBook Air, an iPad, an iPhone, and an Apple Watch—that's four devices per person that they can use to make phone calls and connect to the Internet.

What's the next big transformation going to be? Much to Malaka's chagrin, I think the answer may be cryptocurrencies.

Augmented reality glasses. They call them XR or AR everyday wearable glasses It's different than current virtual reality. You see the real world but with some virtual things added.

"Apple is said to see the Apple Glasses as a product that could one day replace the *iPhone*."

Ps: it would have been great if bitcoin were that easy in early 2000 for deposit in poker site hoarding bonus all other without the need of passing through many hassle of bank regulation or PayPal and the waiting periods . etc …
In the early only poker days depositing wasn't a hassle. Super early on they took PayPal. Then neteller which was basically PayPal for gambling came out which was absolutely phenomenal. It was act faster than Bitcoin.

Once the UIGEA came out that's when you had to start jumping through a million hoops to get money on sites.

Well in my experience the experience of deposit was much easier than withdrawal .
Took days to get my money back ….

Certainly seems like some interesting moments for crypto right now.

SBF seems like he's going to rat on everyone
Binance strikes me to be in some serious ****
Starting to wonder if Tether is finally beginning to show the cracks people were wondering about

It'll be hilarious if despite it all, those ETF's are approved. But I guess when the biggest players are finally all in...

CNBC: The secret life of Jimmy Zhong, who stole – and lost – more than $3 billion
  • In 2012, someone stole 50,000 bitcoin from the Silk Road, an illegal dark web marketplace.
  • Over time, the value of the stolen bitcoin skyrocketed to more than $3 billion dollars and for years it remained one of the biggest mysteries in the world of cryptocurrency.
  • Almost a decade after the 2012 hack, the thief made a critical mistake that allowed the IRS-CI to crack the case.
  • CNBC obtained never-before-seen footage that shows how investigators linked the thief to the crypto heist.

As someone who loves BTC and is holding some ...
I hope all of that happens so that we can finally break out of this brutal range && I get one more chance to establish long-term holdings sub 20k.

"The government has certainly not been hurt by Jimmy's conduct whatsoever," Bachner told CNBC. "If Jimmy had not stolen the coins and the government had in fact seized them from [Silk Road operator Ross Ulbricht] they would have sold them two years later in 2014 as they did with other coins."

At that point, the government "would have gotten $320 a coin or made somewhere about $14 million," Bachner said. "Now, as a result of Jimmy having them, the government has gotten a $3 billion profit."

I feel pretty confident we revisit 20k, IF everything with Tether, Binance, SBF, CZ, and the terrorism angle plays out as it could.

There are just a lot of ways it can play out.

In around 17k out at 35k. Still holding a bunch of ETH though.

I worry the SBF trial will scare the politicans but I think maybe all that stuff was priced in during the hysteria last year when it crashed to 15k. I think it is more likely we go to 200k at some point next year.

Politicians seem to be doing a confused 180 to embrace cryptography for privacy, yet at the same time jailing cryptographers that created privacy tools like tornadocash. The octogenarians are just clicking buttons.

FYI for anyone here holding BTC in a digital wallet...unlikely based on the expertise of members here but just in case...

WaPo: If you created a bitcoin wallet before 2016, your money may be at risk

After a tech entrepreneur and investor lost his password for retrieving more than $600,000 in bitcoin and hired experts to break open the wallet where he kept it, they failed to help him. But in the process, they discovered a way to crack enough other software wallets to steal $1 billion or more.

On Tuesday, the team released information about how they did it. They hope it’s enough data that the owners of millions of wallets will realize they are at risk and move their money, but not so much data that criminals can figure out how to pull off what would be one of the largest heists of all time.
