You could actually do some really cool mean reversion statistical analysis and develop a system of going long and short depending on conditions for a profit.

I'm more worried about the loss of momentum and bearish divergence, which is almost certainly for real

If you make the assumption that someone can make X winrate over 2 million hands, and after 500k hands their graph indicates they are far below the mean line, you should be staking that person assuming you'll get a greater piece than if you would have staked them from the beginning.

How ****ed am in in terms of renting an apartment or getting a entry level professional job with a foreclosure or bankruptcy on my record?

In terms of an entry level position, it really depends on the industry. In terms of renting an apartment, I'm sure things can be negotiated so that you pay every month with a cashiers check or something and leave a deposit, so I doubt it would be an issue.

so wtf is up with the bolded line. Possibly some kind of error in reporting trades, or did some guy just get owned badly when he put in a market order to buy 10.5k shares of XOM ?

If it's the later, do any of you guys attempt to be a market maker in the after hours/premarket to catch stuff like this?
yeah so it happened again right now:

what happened is someone tried to buy stuff

if that is the case one could put in some limit orders to buy and sell $1 above and below the last trade making a near risk free large profit. It just seems too easy though

They might not be reporting the trades when they happen. Sometimes they are marked as oos or out of sequence. There is no routing to a nbbo after hours so that could have something to do with it. I've also noticed trades put up at the days vwap after hours too.

Ok I invested into this ATW stock which deals with offshore drilling. I read about it and it has been doing well for me.

What do you think about these types of stocks..

And do these have a strong correlation with the price of oil?

I'm not sure what vwap means, but yesterday XOM's low was $70.25, so you are suggesting it could have been a trade from last Friday?

Heh, I was looking at ATW today and it looks pretty good in terms of numbers. However, I don't like trying to pick individual drilling stocks because of variance (oil price and stuff going wrong). I don't know enough about the industry to pick between ATW and DO (for an example of another good looking driller) so if I want exposure I'd look for an oil fund of some sort. FWIW, ATW looks overbought according to the RSI and I think there are better value prospects.

I decided to buy TRN and NRG. Both came up in the same value screen, and look better to me both in terms of numbers. I also think TRN has a nice selection of business areas with NRG being a pretty solid industry - power is always needed.

I also bought IGNT and put trailing sell stops in on ARAY and ISRG today (these are based mostly on tips from a friend who follows the medical sector closely and has a good record).

VWAP is volume weighted average price.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VWAP

So I'm saying a trade could happen monday at 4:30 that is at the vwap from monday's regular trading hours.

I am probably missing something here again, but the vwap from monday's regular hours would have to be above the low of $70.25, correct?

Right in my original reply to you I said it could have been a number of different things, in this case it isn't the vwap.

What day was that XOM print from, I can look at it at work and see if there is any extra detail?
