This is very normal crypto market behavior and I would say recent market action it’s quite orderly for crypto IME. Because a lot of cryptos only trade on btc or eth pair, altcoins are susceptible to massive liquidity vacuums when the price btc or eth drop, as the price of the alt cannot be rebalanced quickly enough by market makers. So if you are on leverage trading an altcoins you’re in deep **** rn
Well... Part of the issue is the few individuals who hold massive amounts of coins.

But altcoins are not THAT bad imo. Focusing on utility tokens (the ones, that actually serve some useful service), I managed to get quite a nice profit so far.

After making a minor loss on what turned out to be a pump&dump, and an exchange I used vanishing over night, no less...

I did find a new EU crypto platform yesterday, fully regulated & compliant (not sure how many crypto platforms can say that), and they are about to finish open-beta soon.

Maybe worth checking out? I already signed up there.

Either way, HODL and remember what you're in for... The long game

Can you elaborate for a dummy like me, who isn't even close to ballz deep in crypto and just has a 50/50 eth/btc weighting as an overall smallish % of my investment portfolio?

I know BTC and ETH are not as correlated as BTC and basically everything else but it is weird to me that ETH is losing a bit while BTC has pushed higher this past week.

Did I miss something?

Miners would accept non eth payments because they are incentivized to take whatever possesses value. If a market develops where miners take erc20 tokens then undoubtedly they would confirm those transactions and add them to the ethereum blockchain.

I guess in a vacuum what he's arguing certainly could happen if there are only a handful of smart contracts/dapps that would be running on ethereum, but we run into the same basic issues of pricing and fair value. These tokens are never traded on fiat, almost always on eth/ico, btc/ico pair. So its value is derived from whatever ethereum and bitcoin is trading for; because bitcoin and ethereum are the only currencies that actually have fiat ramps.

His argument is too hand wavy and edge case. But the one thing I definitely agree with is that the notion that there are going to be thousands of dapps running on ethereum with hundreds to thousands of active users each is just simply too much koolaid for me. Capitalism & first mover advantage tells me that its more likely to be just a few dapps that will be used.

Doesn't he say miners would be accepting tethers in his forecast? Tethering out confirmations because eth is worthless to be exact.

Damn ETH looks in major trouble. Near its lows while bitcoin up 20% from lows. I think we see 100 this year with bitcoin staying above 6k.

ETH is either the bargain of the century right now or about to become completely worthless.

You will soon hear from icos that raises 20m+ going broke and not being able to deliver anything to their token holders

No dapp
No biz plan
No pivot
No users
No revenue

Just straight up burned through all their ico raise money and token holders left holding the bag. I’m sure there are icos that developed in good faith, but because they lack the business skills simply burned through their monies too fast. This is of course exasperated by the fact that ethusd is now down over 80% from the top with no signs of reversal or consolidations. There will be many icos that simply became slush funds for their founders and straight up committed fraud.

Outside of ethereum there appears to be a paradigm shift in how large block chain projects are fundraising. They aren’t icoing anymore. A lot of new projects will not be burdened by the mistakes of ethereum and ethereum ico projects. For example, eos has an incubator VC fund specifically built to fund dapps. Other projects are now seeking grants from governments or corporations to develop business models. Icos are dead for now.

o **** this is brutal. Nasty bull trap before this drop bitcoin looking bullish bet many filled their alt bags. Rally back to 230-250 before the big drop? or maybe bounce off 200 for a bit before the big one.
