Anyone know anything about https://www.blockchains.com/? They just purchased 64,000 acres in the industrial park in Reno where Tesla built their gigafactory and are apparently associated with ethereum in some way?

Seems interesting.

Bold prediction: Eth price never drops to 10% of BTC again.

Newer bolderer prediction: The mETH flippening will happen this year, probably in the first half. No clue what will happen to BTC after that but it could get ugly.

Coincidentally, this will also be the next day that Kazuya posts ITT.

It wouldn't hurt to add something to the Sticky about crypto and maybe a separate buyer's beware-similar to the first post in the ICO thread. Poker players should be more skeptical than anyone when it comes to scams and risky investing.

Why is this thread so dead during its biggest drop in forever?

Its fun watching your portfolio lose like 50% over a few days... guessing everyone panic sold. Still holding, bought a bit more, and too stubborn to get out now lol. HODL

Still above start of 2018 price. Don't think anyone is too worried.

do we expect to see eth price lag this year as new ICOs start choosing alternatives? think they host 80%+ atm which can surely only go down, so my question is will that negatively impact price and how badly?

and would it affect price at all if a bunch of erc20s go broke this year?

many regulatory bodies are beginning to label ethereum's ico as a issuance of security

here are the swiss saying that ETH raise was a security
https://www.finma.ch/en/news/2018/02...co-wegleitung/
coupled with Jay Clayton during his senate hearing saying every ICO he's studied is a security

although it is unlikely that these governments retroactively target ethereum as a security, it does make one wonder what may happen in the future once these massive ICO raises go bust and people flood these regulatory bodies with complaints.

I did this because I naively believed that Kazuya and Twoshatter actually abandoned the thread.

2/ I would take 0 solace in being "right" or "wrong" about anything. Unlike some folks, I dont really quite care what goes on here... because Ive got nothing to prove here. There are other crypto related communities that I am apart of which are far more rewarding. My track record for serious calls in which i had real $ on this thread speaks for itself. Does it still upset people that I can both hold ethereum (from under 0.015) and still talk **** about it? I literally tell everyone I know that Ethereum is a piece of ****, but I still own it.

3/ I'm going to be here whether or not your crypto goes to 0 or 100. Whether or not "aggo" is right or wrong matters nothing to me.
My fiat balance is very happy. My btc balance is very happy.
My ethereum balance is very happy.

I remember reading that post last September. Maybe I am dumb but I still don't know which coins you consider to be bets on web3.0 other than ether.

Aren't basically all cryptos bets on web 3.0?

No way they retroactively enforce. Basically everything pre DAO report is grandfathered. Post, is another question.

they could, but i generally agree that it is unlikely.

there are tons of stories out there of people meeting with vitalik privately and writing checks to the EF before they launched the coin.

that's called capital formation. We havent even gotten to the issue of him selling a security yet.

Not sure if been posted but anyone seen what Buterins previous project was before ETH ? Obviously a clever dude but not on genius level like most people seem to think.

Sorry if this has been discussed already but has anybody read: An (Institutional) Investor's Take on Cryptoassets? By John Pfeffer

He makes a point that platform and utility cryptos will have a hard time up against the laws of supply and demand. I am trying to figure out how much value these assets can provide for the end user, (going out and buying ETH on the open market with the purpose of spending it) while also appreciating and providing value for the hodler. How is the end user going to benefit by using ETH vs the status quo, or a new, cheaper alternative?

I am not an ETH hater, this is just something I struggle with when the valuation is nearing 100bn before a killer dapp has even been brought to market. Any opinions or further reading would be appreciated.
