Well it depends how you look at it. Good icos are still profitable alot, you just have to adjust and cherry pick them as there is bunch of ICOs going atm. Some of them like cardstack, eximchain, endor, atonomi will still bring you more money then investing $ in blue chips...
Btw check also ocean protocol WL registrations are opened on 15th Feb...

Think even some of these good ico's are going to end up bad. Artificial discounts, no real products, no real partnerships. Have to be careful.

ICOguru is my favorite of the ico listings. the difference is in projects. There're not too many but all of them do have a great idea behind of it

Risk management tools for cryptocurrency traders, holders and miners with derivatives

MARKET Protocol (“MARKET”) has created a unique contract that derives value from an underlying asset settling in the future, using smart contracts and blockchain technology. With MARKET any ERC20 token can be used as collateral to gain price exposure to something else, like gold, oil, stocks, bonds, bitcoin or another ERC20 asset..

MARKET Smart Contracts are similar to traditional derivatives in that they are a contract between two or more individuals, which settle in the future based on the price of an underlying asset. Traders can create relationships like AAPL/USDT or SALT/ETH utilizing their digital assets as collateral without converting to fiat currency.

So all of these ICO's are total **** in comparison to bitcoin at this point. Is the main reason people are investing in these because there's a bigger chance to 10x? Or do people actually think some ICO's have groundbreaking tech?

90% for the 100X 10% for the tech.
And many company with decent tech ruin it with useless token to abuse the ICO system.

Has any coin recommended here made vs lost money? What is the average return of the ICOs mentioned here?

ICOs seem like the worst possible "investment" or even get rich trade you could make.

This thread sux so not many recommendation here, check wanchain if you want to see one of the few coin mentioned

Clueless statement, alot of ICOs have had insane returns. I expect them to get worse overtime once it s established that 99% are worthless moneygrab, but even in the current bear market ICOs have a decent potential maybe event without being that selective.

Disagree with the not having to be selective part. Agree with the rest.

Bad icos are easy to talk about and point out. With good ones you are incentivized to keep it to yourself. The last one I did was Fusion, and telling people about it on a forum could only lessen the amount you were able to invest.

Virtually none of these companies have much of a development team, so how can they have groundbreaking tech?

What virtually all of them do have is a substantial marketing team to create buzz and sell their tokens. Most amusing (to me) is that many of them don't even disclose who the hell is in charge and owns the company, it's just a mystery as to where the money ends up and who makes the decisions.

And ultimately, just because a company has groundbreaking tech doesn't mean that the token they sell to the masses is worth anything. The token represents no stake in the company.

I'd guess at least 90%+ of world class dev's interested in crypto are either working on bitcoin, maybe ethereum, or have started their own project by now. So yes, a good development team for a new ICO is very unlikely.

The ICO space is filled with beautiful websites with nice intro vid's and no useful information whatsoever.

And ultimately, just because a company has groundbreaking tech doesn't mean that the token they sell to the masses is worth anything. The token represents no stake in the company.

This too. Let's say you find an ICO which checks all of the necessary points for a good investment. Almost always a blockchain isn't needed (or at least not in demand enough from a big customer base) and when it is needed, there is very often no way for a token to capture any value because of very high velocity's.

Let's say Burger King creates it's own coin and you want to buy a whopper from burger king. What you do is buy some coins --> buy a whopper --> coins directly get sold in the market again. There will be an abundance of supply and there is no need to hold on to this token. Every time you want fastfood, you buy x$ worth of tokens and that's it.

With a lot of ICO's and other tokens, it's exactly like this and token's will mostly approximate real-life worth of the good you're buying, or the cost of security of the network.

So you'd have to make some serious leaps in judgement/faith to get from an ICO to something that's actually useful and captures it's value that way.

Switcheo is pretty decent so far and is getting some nice first mover advantage over NEX.

after skipping nex i think i'm passing on all these exchanges and decentralised exchanges for the time being. im sure most of them will do well but i imagine bigger gains elsewhere.

missed the atonomi whitelist. had been interested but forgot all about it.

simplyvitalhealth finally has a date (may 21). been waiting ages for that.
