Did it about 10 years ago. Employer bought me Becker. My whole strat: smashed the sample questions 1,000 questions at a time. Filtered into areas where I was struggling, and did sample tests of only those areas. Was getting between 90-95% correct on these pre test.

Test was nothing crazy, passed 3 easy and snuck in a pass on my weakest area, Audit!

Definitely go with Becker. It's a little pricey (if your company isn't paying for it) but totally worth it.

Depends on how you learn, i found becker useless, i used CPAforfree and passed all the first time. Im not good at absorbing information by reading or listening, practice questions are all that help me.

Did it 5 years ago using Gleim Books + NinjaCPA MCQs. Read the material once and did MCQs to establish baseline. Then used targeted MCQs to improve in weak areas. Have heard good things about Becker from coworkers. Gleim was comprehensive but very dry.

Did Becker 25+ years ago and nailed it in one shot all while working for Deloitte & Touche during busy season. Didn't do anything but work and study for 5 months straight.

Whatever you do, commit to giving it 100% effort in your study. I know people that half assed it on their studying and had to take the test 6+ times and ended up spending quadruple the time I spent to pass it the first time

Also, once you pass, make sure the state has your current mailing address. I changed careers and started building houses and one day it dawned on me I hadn't paid my annual CPA fees in a while. Turned out it was years and the balance due was $20,000 in fees and penalties so I said F that and let it lapse, fortunately I never needed it
