Uber has seasonality, in which Q1 is typically their lightest quarter for rides. So their losses are likely lower in Q1 since each ride is believed to be operating at a loss once you factor in discounts, rider and driver subsidies.
What's interesting is that I didn't get offered any discounts in Q1 but in the past few weeks I've been offered 30 rides at 20%, 15% and 20% off.
Oh and that number is excluding stock comp, so yeah...
