Curious about this stock and what others think. Down a ton since 2015 (traded at 38 then, now at about 8). It has bad financials but still owns a ton of property and with the aging baby boomers it's in a prime spot to capitalize on their old age and infirmity.

I think the price is low compared to a former high. This is dangerous, but still, as one of the largest assisted livings in the country, it's poised to go big, I think.

Their upside is in shutting down and selling their real estate. They aren't 'going big' otherwise

Both of the above posts are correct. Too much debt and an increasing cost of labor and an inablitity to fully pass on those costs to residents. Long term care industry is such a disaster.

Of course, coming out of a national chain grocery store yesterday, I see a Brookdale Senior living van in the parking lot. Never heard of them until this thread the other day, and would have never noticed.

Reminds me of a funeral I went to about 15 years ago, back in my home town (rather small home town). I was in a huge city at the time, and one of the guys at the funeral was a plumber. He asked about if I had ever heard about a certain plumbing company while I was there. Of course I said no. He seemed shocked, and stated that "they are all over the place....they have about 30 trucks. Of course, if he was in any city he would notice all of the plumbing trucks in town, where I would of course hardly notice any.

Last plumber story is from when I was traveling (by car) about four months ago. There was a big box truck in front of me, with a license plate from Oregon. It was a plumber truck.....was called Einstein Plumbing. On the side it had a picture of Einstein... and written below his picture was an alleged (tongue in cheek, of course) Einstein's quote: "If I could do it all again, I'd be a plumber".

I was trying to explain how people value certain Internet assets that they own, more than they would if they didn't own it. Someone stated that there was a word for that...the Endowment Effect. he was correct.
