Re: Bitcoins - digital currency

Can someone explain what exactly a hardfork is? Should I be pulling my money out of this? Sorry I’m completely new to this crypto.

Re: Bitcoins - digital currency

Bitcoin forked into bitcoin and bitcoin cash. If you owned 1 bitcoin prefork, you would have 1 bitcoin and 1 bitcoin cash post fork. You would think scaling issues and developer drama would hurt a crypto, but its the opposite. Stupid people think their fork is going to overtake the main chain and rule the world so communities sprout up around new forks that give it some demand. The original chain doesn't lose value either so people end up with what seems to be free money.

If you have Bitcoin stored on a Ledger and there's a fork, how quickly are the new coins available and how do you claim them?

So much this, I'm pretty new to all of this and have been devouring that site.

I found that guy(Lopp) on twitter and he seemed legit but he didn't have many followers(IIRC), what's up with that? His site does look good though and I need to devote a little more time there.
