1. In case You havent tried it yet, just unplug from USB port and plug into USB port again, it should load correct drivers. If not working, first time, dont bother inserting again and just leave them plugged in and restart your computer. Wait for a while to load completely, if You have a lot of things on AUTOSTART wait longer. It should work now. If not, try again to unplug and plug into USB. Try changing to port which you know works, one that your mouse uses or keyboard. It could be that just one pair of USB ports is not working.
2. Go to Microsoft Security Essentials website and download MSE. AVG is complete junk when it comes to security or simplicity. Lots of bells and whistles but no substance. To cut it short, it is just bad. Use windows firewall if its Internet security version of AVG. But it will most likely be very hard to successfully perform full uninstall of that piece of s..t called AVG. At least it was last time I gave it a chance.
3. With AVG installation in mind, I have to ask You to look into your update history and perform update of your operating sytem because there is more than one update related to USB compatibility and performance issues. Specifically driver related errors in certain situations.
On the other hand, nothing is error free, including the USB drivers so this could just be driver crash which will be resolved with 1. solution. Hope this helps.
