Mastercard just hired 5 lobbyists to attack bitcoin.

On April 21, 2014 bitcoin got its first lobbyists, however a competitor hired them. DC lobbying firm, Peck Madigan Jones, registered not one, but five of their employees to lobby Congress on “bitcoin” and “virtual currencies.” The client they are registered for is MasterCard, a transaction competitor to bitcoin.
I just don't see how bitcoin doesn't get banned or regulated out of business. I hope I'm wrong because it is an incredible innovation.

AFAIK they are liquidating everything and paying off creditors through bankruptcy. A lot of people think that any Bitcoins they have should be divided by the customers who held Bitcoins there instead.

I bet a lot of the customers who held Bitcoins there are the ones who think they should be divided by the customers who held Bitcoins there.

I think that any Bitcoins they have should be sent directly to me.

Fortunately, none of that matters. What should and will actually happen is whatever the law is in Japan for dividing assets in a bankruptcy.

Private auction would be far more likely if this happens.

i dont really know what you're referring to, but one interesting thing ive heard is that they may be switching conventions and will use satoshis and bits (100 satoshis) as official units.

It could probably be statistically proven that you can blindly short any enterprise that uses the phrase “to the moon” in regards to valuation and come out winner.

If I purchase bitcoins on Coinbase, is it correct that my purchase price is locked in at the time the transaction is made, rather than the time the funds are processed? I thought I read a while ago in this thread that some people had their transaction cancelled by Coinbase when there was significant price movement after the purchase was made.

I'm not on coinbase, but if it's like other exchanges, don't you just place a bid to buy, so whatever amount you bid, is what it is locked in at.

My friends have had transactions cancelled days after they placed the order during a bull run. It cost them about 20-30% of their order value.

I've been a long time user of coinbase and have purchased 10s of thousands of dollars worth with zero problems at all.

I've seen people cancelled on runs up, down, or flat. You hear more about the people who get screwed on the run up because they are pissed.

Coinbase isn't an exchange, and since you have no idea are talking about, why are you compelled to post?

What's your guys thoughts on Circle?

I think for bitcoin to go mainstream (developed world) a service like this had to be started.

It's a really great idea. Only problem is your "USD" isn't stable.

Overstock has Coinbase take all the volatility risk to make this stable for Overstock. There must be a way for Circle to take what they are doing one step further and do the same thing with a site like Coinbase. But really, as soon as the bitcoin futures markets are up this should be simple. Then, bitcoin is pretty much unstoppable as there will be zero reasons it is not better than fiat.

So really, its only a matter of time before this service exists and fiat will be facing heavy competition. Then, hopefully idiot regulators will realize this is better for people that fiat and it will be taxed similar to fiat. This will mark the end of fiat.

All possible in theory but really I don't see how this isn't inevitable. What am I missing?
