Holding my breath here, potentially for a long time.

Most are garbage though. Lots are just pirate pass throughs. We'll probably soon find out that some that weren't labeled as such also were.

There are some semi-legit companies on there, like feedzebirds.com. It was so laughably overvalued I had to borrow and sell some, I'm about to close out with a 60% profit in bitcoin terms and I still think it's overvalued.

Gavin isn't one to hype falsely, but I have no idea why he'd announce that an announcement is coming, this confuses me. Are they really working on things in secret? Makes no sense to me.

+1 to your summary points analysis. IMO: Best idea so far for the "big" announcement may be an official launch of the Bitcoin Foundation.

I'd probably want odds since it's down to 11.5 now but denominating the bet in BTC builds in odds (in a sense).

Please god somebody take this bet. Could be a BTC prop first. I would do it if I knew more about it.

I hate to bet against irrational bubbles in short periods of time. A dog farts and the price moves $3 in one direction.

It's a 10 BTC bet offer. You really care that much about sweating it for two other people? C'mon.

In other news, 100k of a 500k BTC address is on the move tonight. Suspicion is that it's pirate40 and that he could be attempting a scare on exchange trade, possibly coupled with a huge sale to drive prices lower than normal through compounded selling and fear.

Timing is great for a massive sell-off tomorrow, but pirate40 must risk Mt. Gox holding his funds however - it will be interesting to watch what really happens vs what's threatened.

The only good way to this imo is to agree to pay in each other's preferred currency. No real reason (besides excitement maybe) to make it all or nothing at one point which needs to be kind of carefully defined (MtGox? what if they are gone or closed for that day or tiny and not representative by then? last trade before midnight? etc). You can just agree to swap at the now rate at a later time.

Actually yeah, but I more or less would be sweatin' it for the fact that I would like to see the reason why people are taking the side that they are. For example, just two nights ago my friend and I were discussing about the bump in the market and were arguing about what way it's going to go and how long it's going to take. Obviously we don't have that much insight -- so it would be dumb for us to make a wager like this ... buuuut in a community where you gotta put 'your money where your mouth is'. I think this would be perfect.

Ya heard?

I've spent a couple of hours reading Micon's thread and the amount of stupid is unbelievable. I can't understand how so many people can delude themselves into giving their money away. There's a profound (and rather depressing) lesson about human nature in there somewhere.

Did anyone try to trace what pirate was using the coins for? If he has just been sitting on them, then it's obviously a ponzi.

mainly trading probably. i remember seeing a thread on bitcointalk where some guy claimed to have made $1/coin on 6000 coins trading vs pirate.

also i saw him play on seals once. he typed his hand in chat then shoved every hand.

I read that thread, he was using Gox so he doesn't know who he was trading with. He was just going off of 'everyone' 'knowing' that pirate was on the other side of ever trade no matter what.

bitcointalk.org is a ****hole of the internet. The long term offers forum is a fool's paradise, with a different ponzi scheme advertised in every thread. Of the posters there, it seems only a minority are smart enough to understand that sending your money to an anonymous, untraceable account in the hope of being paid 2% or more interest per week is not a good idea. They are outnumbered by gullible idiots who can't see that a scheme (pirateat40's) that has paid 7% interest weekly for over a year cannot be legit. It is a thoroughly depressing place.

This is what will be great long-term. Send your bitcoin to address and use them. Assuming they can fix blockchain size problem.

Nooo, all these bytes fillin' mah drives.

But seriously, I just bet 250BTC that a guy named pirate is stealing all the booty. It's the wild west in my living room in 2012.

And that card seems awesome.
