Seems like a pretty positive sign it is still over 8k. Many alts have had big last 24 hours as well. I won't be surprised to see 10k in the next week or two.

So I guess I can read a chart sometimes. 50% of the time, it happens every time.

The crazy thing about bitcoin is that it could easily hit new lows next week or pump to over 10k and then there is positive news media about the huge increase for the first time in months and bitcoin boom 9.0 could start. No one really knows. Lots and lots of people on the sidelines and short means any kind of upward momentum could have another huge breakout.

The thing here is this is like the police. They already have you. They just want the confession so it looks better on the record.

The reason they likely already know that you've sent them money from gambling sites is due to chain analysis. You're, unfortunately, not going to be able to use Coinbase/GDAX going forward, but to others who might not be so unlucky yet, please send to a private wallet that you control, if you can, before sending to Coinbase/GDAX and they will have "nothing on you," so to speak.

It sounds like he did send to an intermediary wallet (blockchain.info).

I would send to an other exchange and change currency before sending to gdax at this point to avoid that kind of problem

first of all, he seems to have used an intermediary wallet(blockchain).

second, how can BTC be touted as this super-anonymous digital currency and be used for all kinds of illegal black market stuff...IF upon running a simple chain analysis one can figure out where funds came from?

Because a lot of people don't realize it's all traceable yet.

So you guys are saying blockchain.info is basically compromised in terms of GDAX knowing when you are sending gambling winnings from it? Should I just cash out directly to my hardware wallet and then send that to GDAX? Will that keep me safe from being banned?

Hard to short a ponzi scheme where the only short methods are controlled by people that can paint the tape and wipe you out.

It's cool if you have play money, but following Bitmexrekt has basically replaced porn over the past while for me.

That people believe in this nonsense with all its obvious flaws is way more interesting to me.

Couple of researchers set out to calculate the equilibrium valuation of Bitcoin. I can't vouch for the quality of the work, but some of you may enjoy:

Driven by demand and approximated with hashes per second. They formalize some concepts and relations academically, that were intuitively known by experienced people in the field, given some simplifications and assumptions.

It's mostly a good building block for further academic research, not actionable conclusions on price, imo.

I'm almost certain I can buy bitcoin with a credit card on coinbase FWIW. It's not a high limit mind you but pretty sure you can. I've been through all the verification steps they have fwiw.

Yeah just to cap this off for me, I doubled checked if I had a credit card on coinbase, I did, and what my credit limit on a credit card was on coinbase and it was actually way higher than I thought. Was thinking it was like $500 or something. But confirmed you can pull from a credit card, and obv bank/debit card.
