Merchant adoption is coming. Lightning will most likely be a failure and it is also late given the quick developments we have right now, i have made a lot of Bitcoin payments and basically never would I have used lightning. Segwitcoin is also vulnerable to a miner swith sometime this year as miners support Bitcoin Cash, be careful with Segwitcoin.

I know nothing about the LN, but if it's a success, BCH loses how much value vs BTC?
There are several major problems that will keep lightning from working the way everyone thinks it will.
1) Routing: currently all proposals for path finding and routing are actually less efficient and less effective than just broadcasting a standard bitcoin transaction. The actual desired architecture of the LN is essentially a problem that's gone unsolved in the computer networking industry for...as long as there's been computer networking.
2) The catch 22: If the blockchain blocks are full, there's no way to ensure a transaction can be disputed before the time-lock expires. If the blockchain blocks are not full, there's no reason to use lightning in the first place as on chain fees would be low. (source: the LN whitepaper)
3) Locking up funds: LN will have to consume/tie up ridiculous amounts of funds in order to have channel liquidity. It's just not practical.

They're testing a limited pre-alpha release that does almost none of the things that people are expecting from the LN. Recently, at a scaling discussion a LN developer was asked to give an estimate for when LN will be ready, he said hopefully 18 months. That's a long time to wait with full blocks, unreliable confirmations, and uncontrollable fees.
