I'd just like to clarify where some confusion ITT is coming from.

Victor, "in lieu of" means "as a substitute for," not, as you are apparently using it, "based on." Perhaps the phrase you were looking for is 'in light of." Also, an apostrophe followed by an "s" makes a possessive, not a plural. Your post caused confusion and I think the responses were not lying about your point, but missing it.

Others, when Victor wrote "in lieau of Mason's recent vendetta against strawman's, you should clearly eat a lengthy ban for such slander," he was trying to say "given Mason's recent statement about strawman arguments, it would follow that you should be banned for doing doing so to me." It was an attempt to both ridicule Mason's hyperbole and complain about BoredSocial's interpretation of Victor's previous post, not an actual call for a ban.

I honestly want you here too. You can be very valuable to discussion. You can also be totally ridiculous at times. Like with TS, I just wish you could stay more to center on your posting. i figured you had history with TS so i stayed out of whatever you two were bickering about, but then your attitude towards myself and others seemed unwarranted. i actually wrote you a fairly non confrontational post to try and de escalate how defensive you were so that people could openly discuss ideas, but that didn't seem to work. its not that you disagree with people, you come across bitter about it.

back to TS. i understand mods get bent out of shape when ts is the center of conflict but in my observation the key targets have a theme. SJW's, Tesla bulls, and bitcoin bulls. The key similarity is the religious fans of these things that become (arguably) delusional. i'm not claiming those groups don't contain smart people but they do seem to contain an overwhelming number of zombified followers. having someone challenge ideas is a good thing

TS is like 70% annoying **** but he's also the first poster to always give tough love to the noobs asking real dumb advice. and when he's actually correct hammering charlatans, it's a wonderful sight.

my main grievance with this forum the last 2 months is that TS and ASAP could be the stephen a. smith and skip bayless of this forum, but they're too busy making out to post real objective stuff. i'm sure there's an ASAP equivalent in the crypto threads as well. at a certain point it's just a headache to scroll through 25 of their dumb posts. get a room or go HU4ROLLZ already.

TS style is abrasive but think it's really valuable to see the discussions play out. I basically think he's an exception to the general rule that (sometimes excessively) abrasive posters are bad for the community. I think he's a net positive by a lot, I've learned a lot reading his posts and the discussion that followed.

as for general moderation, I think it should be light assuming the person has a track record of legitimate posts (with the exception of the political stuff). I think it should be extremely heavy if the person is new / likely gimmick / etc.

TS's main problem is pretty simple: he has a narrow area of expertise that he's probably right to be confident and authorative about (I'm not qualified to comment on this, but would trust the bfi traders enough to agree with their points here), but just desperately flails around in huge areas he clearly hasn't read enough about and doesn't understand, while acting as if having a stem degree and a bankroll makes you some bastion of infallible truth on whatever the flavour of the day is.

Most people who do understand these other things enough to smack it down don't/wouldn't/try briefly and move on with someone like him, for the same reason Ahnuld etc don't endlessly lecture penny stock pumpers etc, so he stays in a little bubble arguing with morons who also don't understand these subjects, which he will often seem to win due to being articulate and the opposition being pretty weak (when in reality everyone just loses, hence the bans). Left unchecked this invariably devolves down to making more and more controversial arguments to show some sort of intellectual superiority, as nothing is more fulfilling to those who crave winning arguments than persuading people black is white or right is wrong.

Note that you can experience these parlour tricks at a much higher standard by hanging around/reading the higher echelons of political theorists if it's the part of his posting you like.

Regardless of how good his posting is on x narrow subject, any honest discussion of him has to acknowledge he has huge flaws in this regard and the massive toll it takes on mods trying to keep a lid on the tidal wave of fail it results in that tsunamis over any 2+2 forum he touches outside of a trading thread.
