new Iphone 5 on Verizon, Sprint, ATnT, T-Mobile.
A cheaper version of the iPhone 4 that is cloud based.
A pre-paid free or like $99 Iphone
new Ipad 3 with retina display
Revamped iTunes with iCloud
new IoS5
Iphone5or6 4G
and possibly an iTV
and possibly a severely discount Ipad

all that probably hits in the next year with the last 2 being maybes

We should just rename this the official Apple thread. I love to have threads just devoted to Apple, Google, Facebook, Twitter etc like there is for the groupon one

He says to Jobs, "Hi, I'm George Bodenheimer, president of ESPN," and extends his hand. Jobs doesn't shake his hand, says, "Your phone is the dumbest ****ing idea I have ever heard," and walks away.

Needless to say, the ESPN phone was a huge flop.
Does Jobs post around here? Sounds like a 2+2er

I'm curious to see what the next "new" product Apple launches is. I'd assume the most likely is a "iTV".

I'm on the AAPL train for mostly the same reasons the pro AAPl ppl posted above.

I'd have been more worried about replacing Jobs if this was any sort of surprise. As morbid as this sounds, I don't expect the guy to be alive too much longer, I think he's probably really sick to step down. They've been planning for years for this.

The eco-system they have built makes it hard to avoid whatever new products they bring to the market. TV's that plug into that ecosystem seem like a very logical next step to me. Social/Internet TV is going to be huge, I'd bet on Apple having as good of a shot as anyone at owning it.

It's also amazing to mr how much young people love Apple. If you don't know a lot of teenagers or twentysomethings, it would really surprise you. This generation would trade a finger for an iPhone, it's insane.

Lol what? Not known for innovation? Maybe not recently, but they revolutionized we used computers in the 90's and early 2000s.

Not sure where to check copyrighted names but likely to be copyrighted, iTV is currently a UK based terrestrial TV channel, not sure if this would affect such a thing.

I think the iPad proved that the name doesn't really matter.

It seems like TV is the next logical step for AAPL. If not them, I hope someone gets in there and seamlessly integrates all the things I do on my phone and computers with my TV experience.

I think it should be a TV that wirelessly connects with your phone, tablet, and pc so it's essentially just an extension of those. You can get traditional cable or flip to "Apple TV" which is Netflix but with more stuff on it.

Everything I've read makes me think it's going to be really hard to get completely away from the traditional cable model but layering something like a Netflix on steroids on top of normal cable and having it connect to your pc/phone ecosystem seems great.

Does this already exist somewhere?

TV/computer/internet is the holy grail and has been attempted numerous times over the last decade or more. Including by Apple.

Sort of surprising no one can figure it out, or perhaps there's just not a big enough market for it yet.

i can't see why not, if they can stream movies almost perfect off netflix app, i don't see why it would be any different streaming live tv from a satellite as well

AAPL is priced for perfection...
In the most competitive space in tech...
Last I checked they has 18% smartphone share...
And tech is all about massive reversal of fortune.

This post has a 1986 Playboy interview with Jobs:

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/tmz-po...er-resignation

The Apple II has a 60-70% market share in early 80s...
The Mac in 1984-5 probably peaked with a 30-40% share...
Before bottoming out at < 3% in the late 90s.

The best product often loses the race...
Corporate/government is where the money is.

And being a Cult does not matter much in the end...
Cults can go from 30% share to 3%...
And still be a cool, hardcore Cult.

Also, visionary leadership is not a commodity...
Only people with no vision believe it can be.

Please name another company in the same sector who has "innovated" anything recently.

iPod
iTunes
OS X
iPhone
iPad
laptops
ultrabooks

No innovation? gtfo

You must be one of those guys with expectations of an "innovation" every business quarter.

I have a confession to make:

I talked someone out of buying a ****load of Apple stock 1997.

Girl I was dating said her parents were interested in buying a lot (probably high 5 figures, maybe low 6 figures) of Apple stock and asked my opinion. I told her it was a bad idea to put so much of their money (they weren't rich) into one company and suggested an index fund instead.

How was I to ****ing know? This was before iTunes, the iPod, the iPhone, and even the goddamned iMac hadn't been introduced yet. Macbooks with lithium ion batteries were randomly bursting into flames. Apple was a ****ty company with no market share. This was like someone telling me in 1990 they wanted to bet everything on the Braves to win the pennant next year and me telling them not to. They suck, they've sucked for years, and there's no indication they'll ever stop sucking; then suddenly Steve Jobs is Tom Glavine and I look like an *******.

Good thing we never married, because I'd be catching **** every single time Apple was in the news.
