Super crazy trading today. A few minutes ago SPY went down 2 points (equals 20 S&P 500 points) in about 5 seconds.

XOM the only stock I got above water.

If I assume the Fed will not raise rates in a market crash but will let the balance sheet run off, are inflation protected bonds a great investment?

And how are you putting your money in VIX? Proshares ETFs that reverse split every few years?

The last two times that the S&P 500 dropped 4% and rebounded into the green were as follows...

Oct 16, 2008 = down -4.63% and closed up 4.25% - EU, US, Japan coordinated action to guarantee bank financing, Paulson shifts TARP to buying equity in banks

Oct 23, 2008 = down -4.28% and closed up 1.26% - Fed bailed out MM funds

MSFT Revenue up 20% to $51.7 billion, net income up 21% to $18.8 billion and get it's getting slaughters after earnings down nearly 5% after being down over 2.5 during market hours. with aftermarket that puts it in bear territory down 21% from its 350 high. Does this mean we should be pilling on puts tomorrow for TSLA earnings?

just watch the market reaction to the Fed meeting tomorrow Wedn at 2pm. Eastern and Powell speech at 2:30. Very important. However the market reacts will probably set the tone for a long time.

Casually Chilling? I think those are the exact opposite words I'd use to describe this market. Have you seen the intraday volatility for the past few days?

Pretty sure that poster was talking about the intraday action this morning before the Fed. Market went sideways all day until Powell. I'm about to watch the Powell speech because I'm seeing some super crazy quotes on Twitter from Puru Saxena. Like I don't even believe them. Hah gotta watch it now. I bought QID calls and TBT as trades the other day. Remains to be seen if that's smart cuz this QQQ range the past 3 days is solid. No big breakdown. That damn CVS held it gains today. bull flag broke out.

Sold March 42.50 calls on AXSM. Reading a lot of uninformed positioning about when the FDA's decision on AXS-05 will be and the size of the resulting impact on the stock.

Does anybody know what Facebooks "Reality Labs" division actually does to make $877 million in revenue? I'm 40 and not super in the loop on the meta stuff. Looks like the Reels hurt them but how would they not see that coming. Looks like a bunch of excuses. But maybe ad revenue is down industry wide. I don't know..

Energy SUN XOM, DBC is saving my long-term port plus hedges. Still playing CVS earnings with 110 strike calls. Basiclally blown up my small fun options account if the CVS doesn't hit.

Reality labs is the section that made all their VR products, mainly that Oculus headset which is apparently doing pretty good.

Long term according to Zuck it’s basically the future of the company because it develops all the software and hardware for the “Metaverse”. They’re pouring tons of cash and people into it, and Zuckerberg has basically admitted he knows Facebook is going to die and wants this to be their pivot. Their revenue is going to be dropping for at least the next couple years imo.

I post some newbie thoughts here because I think it helps to know what all kinds of different people are thinking and I appreciate other people posting what they are thinking.

Today I realized a significant percentage of people are trading based on completely false information.

This morning based on something I read on Twitter I was misled into believing AMZN had already reported earnings and they were bad and that's why the stock was way down. I was thinking how stupid I was to hold through earnings week because I have already learned the hard way that AMZN usually goes down 5% after earnings whether they are good or bad. Thank God I hodled because then I saw post market that real earnings came out after the bell and AMZN went up this time.

There are malicious (bot?) accounts on Twitter that post blatant lies about stocks and earnings. I can't believe I never realized this before because it's so obvious with Covid misinformation. They post replies on threads of large legitimate accounts that hundreds of thousands of people will see. They sound like real intelligent comments. They are not like the obvious dumb scams you normally see that are designed to only attract dumb people.

Social media has completely changed investing. Do not believe ANYTHING you read or hear that isn't on a legitimate website such as your brokerage or CNBC. It's financial information warfare.

If you can't figure out which day and time a company is reporting earnings, then you probably deserve to lose money.
