This contest is open to anyone. Newbs, lurkers feel welcome to post. It's a year long stock picking contest just for fun. Everybody pick 10 stocks to buy or short. Stocks and ETF's. Seems to be a lot of Canadians so we can include Canadian exchanges. Dividends count. No trading. Whoever has the highest percentage returns wins. Contest starts Jan 1 2022 and ends December 31st 2022. In the past this contest has sparked some good idea generation.

Do we take the price as of 1/1 or today because these are based on today prices which I might change it anything swings between now and then

Short - MRNA/RVNA/AMC wouldn't stay short on these or anything for that matter a full year though so maybe instead I'd be long MSFT if it has to be a full year.

Another consideration since it's beaten up and might pump in 1st and 2nd quarter is DKNG off November football number which I think should be decent, super bowl and march madness but then be out because I think long term it's a terrible company to be in.

Side question and sorry please move to another thread if need be not intending to highjack. If you had a decent sized portfolio and looking to take 10-30% throughout 2022 which brokerage offers best rates and still not going to have any issues. I like the ease of E*Trade but feel like 6.95% is too high. I know IB is a lot lower but I've heard bad things about them from others.

Contest starts tracking Jan 1st. that's when the price matters. Yes, you have to pick just 10 total. I see you have 3 as your tenth pick. Has to be 10 total.

Right I guess I was asking can I take bitcoin since there isn't a spot etf to take or is it stock only? Can I specify a short for only 3-6 months or a stock for 3-6 months or do I have to hold all 10 positions for the entire year?

The bitcoin tracking etf is GBTC. Check it out. It tracks bitcoin. ETFs are fine. Yes, it's an entire year. no trading in or out. No you can't put on trades for only 3-6 months.

Pretty close to last year's list. I'm also still holding GDNP and LICY. Got out of XBC just in time and put that money into PKK.
I'm getting involved in the early financing of a m&a business model in the IT services space, should go public by the end of 2022. Some of the companies on my list I bought in private placement with warrants, makes a huge different in the overall % gains.

That PAYX has some nice strength lately. I might dig around the industry to find some other ones. DPZ is killing it now too. I've been watching T lately just as a dividend play long-term. I just hate seeing revenue guidance going lower. I think if management has a long-term plan it's worth it but I don't know enough about the industry or company to know if a turnaround is even possible...

very very impressed w how costco has navigated this year. they are the GOAT.

tfw your inflation tout actually lands but costco still tells you to pound sand. also even had a headwind with logistics issues at every part of the supply chain and costco still laughed it off. they're amazing.

i dont really have any stock touts for 2022 as i've been too deep in cryptoland to think i have an edge over just stuffing into S&P500
