I hope nobody here bought TF's stocks. The dump is real

Why has Gamestop mooned recently? Is it a meme stock on Wall Street Bets?

The company's business plan seems like a disaster. Physical games are going away. The pandemic has destroyed in-store traffic. I don't even know how the company is still in business today.

According to Ars Technica:

Quote:
"GameStop’s most valuable asset is their database of tens of millions of PowerUp Rewards members that no other competitor has the ability to replicate. GameStop will be able to leverage this data to become a fierce e-commerce competitor over time and has many unexplored avenues to monetize the data."
Meh

Its just a massive short squeeze. But the owned shares is like 125%+ because of the shorting going on which means it can squeeze even more from here. If shorts are forced to cover you will have a BYND/TLRY situation

Yeah it's quite a show. I do feel a bit of a FOMO that i missed out on GME and it seems like it's going to end horribly for the shortsellers. Wouldn't be surprised if the wsb sub is shut down afterwards.

Fun to watch though.

I dunno why it would get shut down, its just a bunch of idiots.

As an aside, the sub used to be a lot of fun, but its just endless spamming of people trying to pump the next meme stock. That isn't a lot of fun when it consumes the whole sub for a week or more at a time.

Holding RMTI GSAT. Still in partial OGEN. RMTI revenue is guiding higher next year and net income closer to breakeven. Balance sheet looks fine. Cash is stable, quick ratio is great. One of the better balance sheets for a small-cap drug.

This is my favorite twitter account. I thought it was common knowledge by now that index funds are the investing version of basic strategy that everyone should default to but I guess people are still day trading, buying meme stocks, doing options, crypto and whatever else r/WSB is telling them.

The video has 2M views, they will make more off the affiliate link to robinhood than they ever will as traders. Stock promotion really feels like the place to be right now. Not a pump and dump but a real investor relations firm like Agoracom seems like a booming business model with this retail investing craze.
Youtubers making millions/year off basic finance advice, I've come across a few where they're just reading the latest company news release with 'wow' 'this is huge' commentary. No financial analysis required as the majority of viewers wont understand any of that anyway!

Pretty much this. Wall Street Bets hates the guy who runes Citron with a passion as he's the one heavily shorting Gamestop. Definitely hilarious as a lurker, but sad that I missed out on the ride.

I know some people on this thread poops on the Wall Street Bets reddit, but sometimes there's some good analysis on it and I went with it.

My plays:

Corsair Gaming (CRSR): 40c 2/19: Hoping for a big bump after earnings are released in early February for Q4. With quarantine fueling a surge in PC gaming, and Corsair a leading brand in PC parts, I'm hoping earnings will be above expectations and fuel a big surge to make the call profitable.

Callaway Golf (ELY): 27c 2/19: Another earnings play. With people picking up golf during quarantine, and a lot of people giving gifts for said activity, hoping Q4 earnings will be better than expected. Callaway is also in the process of purchasing Top Golf, which is doing very well during quarantine and introducing a lot of people to golf. Hopefully the stock keeps going up.

What happened to Wall Street bets? I was a member for a while and I heard it went private, but now I can’t even read it, it just redirects me. Who are the members who are allowed to stay?

It's not private for me. I'm pretty sure it's public since I can view and post in it.

It went private for a short period of time. They do this a lot when drama is happening. The mods are all attention whores

Sorry didn't see this until now. I'm still long everything that I listed, only change is that I'm gonna lose about 4k on some CVS 80 calls expiring next week (unless I get lucky) but hey, such is life.

I'm still very bullish over the course of the next 3-6 months and prepared to ride out some volatility in the interim. Right now things suck because of Covid + new strains, but I think the world is going to look very different 3 months from now with a widely vaccinated population + Covid in remission anyways due to seasonal factors + massive stimulus from Diamond Joe. If you have questions about specific positions I am happy to expand further.

Q1: Assuming current levels of vaccination stay the same (1M/day), what makes you think 3 months is enough to change anything? That would represent 25% of the population being vaccinated by the end of March.

Q2: Why isn't most of the recovery/stimulus/vax already baked in?

You didn't doubt me, you just said you could still access it. On my phone it just redirected to other Reddits and on my laptop there was a banner on the front page saying something like "WSB is closed we find a solution to keepSEC and institutions out", or something similar to that.

It's worse than that. Because of 2-3 week lag to 50% and second booster for 94% (in total a month+ lag time needed for 94%), by the end of March only about 16% of the population will have protection via the vaccine. The burn through will take it to 25% to 30% though, which is still far short of having this thing controlled. That's less than the effect of distancing.

It's kind of hard to bake in the decisions and money flows of tens of millions of chimpanzees suddenly with free money. Unless big funds are planning to sell into them, no reason that it's all baked in.

I like CRSR too, Stuntman. Has been stuck on a merry go round from mid 30s to low 40s to mid 30s to low 40s and I've played it on the way up almost every time, including this current go round. Hoping for a big ER but I'll probably sell my calls on run-up, while still holding commons.
