I drove by a local steel rod/bar mill yesterday and have never seen more inventory on the property. The place was overflowing with rod coils and an upper parking lot that I have never seen used for storage was completely full stacked 10 coils high.

Your anecdotal evidence has convinced me to not sell puts on CLF or NUE, but most of these supply issues for large corporations are due to international shipping problems so small local businesses wouldn't apply, though there certainly seems to be a demand problem as well.

From the article:

In January and also December, supplier performance “deteriorated to the greatest extent since data collection began in May 2007,” the report said. “Supply chain disruption reportedly stemmed from raw material and transportation shortages, notably trucking,” and also from overseas “due to a lack of shipping capacity.”

It's actually a Nucor plant but I wasn't making a call either way, just thought it was interesting.

I work with a small US manufacturing business and can confirm there is severe shortages in commodities, resulting in crazy price movement.

There is a cardboard shortage as well - lead times associated with it have gone up approximately 6x in the past 2 months. They work primarily with plastic resin, but it's costs have up about 10-20% in the first 6 weeks of the year depending on the material, on top of the resin suppliers being out of regularly stocked items. The suppliers are telling them they hope it's temporary, but who knows how long until that plays out.

Also can confirm the associated freight is way behind as well.

Can't comment specifically on electronic related commodities, though.

What are the primary reasons?
Ae you affected by containers shortage/misallocation?

Not the supplier of the raw materials, just process it - so just going by what we were told, but it's a few reasons.

There are huge container shortages, which are currently being compounded by the Chinese New Year, where some of the material also comes from. Demand is also truly unprecedented.

This article kind of explains what is specifically happening with the resin well, even though it's a month old. I can confirm this has continued and it's gotten even more pronounced in the month since. It's a dry read. The prices have been rising off and on all through 2020 due to pent up demand, but they have exploded in the past 6 weeks.

I can confirm it's no longer economical for our business to import containers full of cheap mic/guitar stands at the moment but orders are made almost a year in advance since its ocean freight China to Canada.
It's been tough competing with the Amazon basics anyway over the last couple of years.

bursito, what are your thoughts on KNRLF going forward? Wait it out until sales start kicking off?

Yes wait it out, I haven't sold a share yet but plan on trimming 20% or so when they announce sales price target of 10-12 (i think it would jump to that at the open after the halt) and I'll let the rest ride.
I've been waiting since September and just buying the dip. It's on the CSE - the short stop loss raids can be really intense. I should have warned you guys earlier about that, I see lots of 20% dip and rip back up in like a 5 min span.

I pulled the trigger on a small position in DVN.CN
https://danavation.com/investor-rela...tation-events/
Like it for multiple reasons. Costs savings on the material of physical labels + printers, labor savings (with minimum wage going up this is only going to get better for DVN), a few big contracts in the works as catalyst.
Honestly I'm surprised we haven't seen this transition yet, please let me know if you can think of any arguments against the tech

Got into SOS Limited at the beginning of the month and the crypto mining operation they are setting up sounds pretty impressive on paper, as long as bitcoin holds steady in the 40-50k range. RIOT and MARA have been strong like bull recently with BTC rally. Has anyone been dabbling with SOS or crypto mining stocks in general? Upside seems great as they should be able to have similar mining capabilities to MARA and RIOT in the very near future and those two companies are trading at around $36 and $43 range with SOS in the $7 range currently.

(Pardon if this falls in the no penny stock chatter as market cap is 230m-ish and was 120m-ish yesterday)

Looks pretty good to me. My main concerns would be the usual: what's proprietary, can someone else do it cheaper etc.

I found these guys in Europe: https://www.ses-imagotag.com/en/

They seem to be doing well with the business so lots of room to grow!

Not to worry. I can pick up where he left off.

NVCN. This one's going to be huge mark my words. They got a management team and everything.

Sold my Callaway Golf (ELY) calls for a 45.45% return. Had I done this 2 days earlier it would've been about ~150%. Oh well lesson learned, got too greedy. My MVIS play this week has paid off handsomely. BB at this point is a total loss, got holding the bag on that. PLTR is down 52%, unsure if I want to cut my losses or not, but I only have 4 trading days left on that. Probably sell the rest of my Friday expiring calls on Tuesday. If it weren't for my MVIS play, I'd be down a bit. Learned so much the last few weeks. Real eye opening experience. Have no idea for the people that do this full time/for a living deal with the daily swings.

bought EMKR in my long-term acct today. PE 13 with earnings guidance being raised consistently over recent months. They beat earnings the last three quarters. Seems fairly priced especially if they can keep surprising on growth. See only one or two analysts currently on it which is good. breakout chart with volume. probably big blocks there. Might turn into more of a trade if it gets moving

I agree with you. I also got greedy and held way too long. Should've sold much earlier.
