I’m good with wall street bets for entertainment and it has been bad in the past, just can’t read about palantir anymore though. It’s a little annoying seeing only posts of these young dudes freaking out over making 500% on their $500 accounts with OTM calls.

Thanks, this is definitely useful.

And LOL at this PLTR run. No one seems to know what half of their business even is but... "Peter Thiel!!" "Government contracts!" "IPO!" "Cool-looking CEO!" "They had an ER!" = moon, and could go to Mars. I'm saying this mostly facetiously, haven't done a ton of research on the company, but that's the impression I have.

Got an IPO play theory on ABNB.
They are expected to go public in December with the original evaluation/market cap of around $30Bil (would be $60-$70 Bil if not for Corona obvi).

It seems like a no brainer that they will generate a lot of hype from techies/millenials/Robin Hooders/digital nomads who like to stay in ABNB's. Also, the company has a lot of obvious parallels to Uber and a cult-like following.

I am thinking of going heavy on their shares right at the IPO and then selling at 30% profit or so.

What are your thoughts on that?

It definitely has the hype and plenty of built up anticipation. I see instant meme status and think it will pump early.

Unless it copies Lyft in its post IPO performance

Well, Lyft is essentially a lesser sibling of Uber. ABNB is for whatever is worth the leader of their field.

Also depends on opening price I guess. If Berkshire or someone drives the price up too much like they did with Snow then it would be a different story.

Citron research says PLTR going back to $20, and it's on its way back down

Good sign. Means they are looking to buy some at cheaper prices. I will probably join them.

I assume you are selling puts on them? Weekly premiums look very good right now. I had 75 stock from $22 to $28.40 a couple days ago, going to wait and maybe buy again at some point as well.

Puts and calls. Both sides are very nice right now. The IV is so high it almost feels like a free roll at this point given my initial cost basis.

After lurking here for years, my first option plays were a collection of pltr calls from 20 to 40 1 week to 3 months out. Did ok. Left a lot of money on the table and let a $30 weekly vanish in the dust today. Decided i was going to ride it out and exercise if it hit.
Fun times. Also, the general zeal twoplustwo used to have for poker and finance has moved to wallstreetbets. Took me forever to figure it out.

Unfortunately the whole forum is near to completely dead. BFI was one sub managing to hang on by a thread, but that thread seems to be fraying.

Hey all. My financial advisor has been getting offers for structured notes for his clients and I'm intrigued, but I'm unsure about the chances of the downsides.

Would this be the right thread to ask about it or is there a more appropriate thread? Or would the subject of structured notes be enough for its own thread?

Man, that sucks for the people that bought the IPO, and will only make 100% on their investment.

What IPO?

Anyway it was nice to see it pull back a little bit after hitting 33 so I won't have to read about how its the best investment out there, every second post on investing/wsb Reddits.

Start a new thread with some more details please, I think this would make for an interesting discussion.

This article reminded me that only the best of the best win long-term, similar to poker:

https://www.cnbc.com/2020/11/20/atte...ose-money.html

Probably because the financial news is designed to manipulate your decisions?

Who doesn't read the news at all (other than being aware of earnings dates) and how does that work for you?

And do these studies even matter anymore in today's investing environment, if the market is just like one big ponzi scheme and only goes up up up until...what happens to stop it??

Bought a dozen PFE 41C weekly calls yesterday, which the gamble paid off nicely. Bought .14 and sold .75

Also nice to see NKLA having a horrible week before Trevor Milton was able to see his shares, missing out on around 50% from this time last week. I would assume he did sell as NKLA lost the GM deal and doesn't seem to have any prospects on the horizon. The badger turned out to mostly be a marketing move and doesn't seem they will pursue it.

If Airbnb doesn't open +20% I will be shocked. I agree with your general sentiment. This stock is prime to shoot up, I'm bullish on the extremely short timeframe post IPO and very long term.

I was thinking along the same lines.

Should I place a conditional offer pre-IPO with my broker (eTrade) or just buy shares at the open? Kinda afraid it might jump 15-20% at the open, which would suck big time.
Wanna buy roughly $80K worth of shares and either make $40-$50K right away and sell if it flies like PLTR off the bat or hold on to shares until that corona **** ends and sell for the same profit next Summer.
