Look at that graph. Asians born to very dirt poorest of parents - below the poverty line - end up in the middle class on average. If that's not a robust meritocracy, what is? And people are saying ITT we need to change this system to something more socialist? Extraordinary. If anything we should be teaching the emulation of Asian cultures.
Asian Americans have basically the same upward mobility as white Americans, which is supported by your graph.
