Hearing word that Amazon may purchase Target this year. What would that do for Amazon's stock?

At this stage it's idle speculation by the shameless pumper, Munster.

how can someone claim this the second day of the year: "What an absolutely insane day. Obviously not the norm, but one whole day in 2018 has me halfway to my target. Insane. Love my techs. Now terrified to check my phone pre-market tomorrow morning."

I am asking

This is big news:

Intel chip flaw creates security issues
Quote:

Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) and AMD (NASDAQ:AMD) shares moving after a report from The Register alleging an Intel processor chip security flaw forced redesigns of Linux and Windows kernels.

Linux programmers and Microsoft are working on a fix with Microsoft expected to release the Windows change through a Patch Tuesday.

Apple’s 64-bit macOS will also need an update.

The fixes will throttle the performance of Intel products. The Register reports that the “effects are still being benchmarked,” but estimates a slow down of 5% to 30%. Newer Intel chips will fare better.

Intel shares are down 2% premarket.

AMD shares are up 6.7% premarket.
Servers around the world run on this.

Imagine the entire global cloud with 20% less performance

if you ever needed an argument against efficient market hypothesis, this is it.

msft send the fix to their beta testers in november.

Not sure what you're saying here.

Intel CEO dumped all his shares except his legally required absolute minimum in December.

just saying that this was 'available' information that clearly wasn't priced into intc (and amd) until today.

/i think i was off here by a bit with some of the articles i read. there was atleast some strange stuff in the linux kernel group and msft beta updates happening since before christmas. don't know if this would have been tradeable infomation...
guess you would have needed an absolute kernel expert to trade on that alone. i take my statement back

it trades about 50.000$ per day. i wouldn't put to much into price movements.

/but basically their big china contract is a big questionmark right now. they might start delivering product sometime this year but it might also take longer. management doesn't want to guess anymore.

I think I'm holding NTS for some damn long that this thread is probably not the right one for it. But I still have it. Those others are much more the sort of time frame of this thread.

At some point I'll learn my lesson and just leave crash bids in for when stocks correct violently.

On the 29th my trading platform failed mid weed-crash. Today I was getting my passport renewed. Unreal bad luck. Really missed out on a sick day today in marijuana.

This HOS trade is gonna test me alright. Moved stops down. Gonna give a ton away, but I'll live with that over a noob whipsaw.

man this game is hard. Being up might be harder than being down.

I have always found this to be true. I have no problems puking when a position goes against me but holding winners is much more of a test. It is so tempting to take that initial pop and rationalize it away saying you can't go broke taking profits. The trade has to be okay before it can be good, good before it can be great and great before it can be truly stupendous. Taking off the okay and good trades too soon will kill you in the long run.

A lot depends as always on time frame, expectations and many other factors. I use a rules based approach to exit that helps me stay in. My biggest leak was always getting out before the trade had truly run its course. The downside is the psychological damage of watching those winners retreat a bit. But for me the most pain came when I got out and it kept going. Now I never regret watching a winner pull back before my rules tell to get out but if I get out early I know it is always a mistake even if it works out. It is especially tough when you get a very fast and big initial move in your favor.

Sold all my EMC today at the close after watching the day in weed. My call is more downside tomorrow, and I'll be buying back when the old gut says to. Closed a bit of THCX today too.

I'm also the guy that bought the American weed company the day before Sessions reports they are turning on weed. So I'm down 34% on MJMA. Luckily it's the smallest position I've bought in a full year as I knew I had almost no knowledge of the American landscape and just thought CALIFORNIA. This is one of those instances where I'm glad my systems have me scale in, so the sting is mild.

also down 13% on TGIF in this space on today's carnage. Again small position.

Kept most of my cash on the sidelines for what I hope this is going to become. And after all that held HOS and it turned up end of day. Let's see if I can not **** this up.
