ACB used to be the only one that Americans were interested in. No idea why. It had a bunch of shares and wasn't hesitant to print more and its CEO gave me a funny feeling. The Trump election left a big question mark for how the DEA would treat marijuana in the coming years. I heard rumours that America was a significant part of ACB's plan. I avoided ACB in favour of WEED and APH who already had footholds in Canada and I figured would grow into industry leaders here.

Recently ACB leaked their talks with major pop companies to make drinkable weed. WEED has publicly come out making fun of them for building hype for a non-event, while at the same time making billion dollar partnerships with a giant beer company.

I'm starting to think you guys might decriminalize weed in a couple short years, much earlier than most people expect. I'm getting a similar vibe to the one I got when Canada legalized gay marriage and you guys soon tagged along. If anything like this comes close to happening ACB should fly. If weed soda or weed beer become legal (in Canada I could see people being against both) ACB should fly.

I have a little ACB.

I ignored weed stocks until you guys brought it up. I see them on the stock shows all the time. I'm in ACB now and Aphria. I've read a lot about avoiding ACB but I'm just gonna go for it and see what happens next year.

I took a ride on this from 3.30 to 4.60 yesterday and then from 4.60 to 5.70 in the pre-market today and I feel like a moron.

With $MU reporting this afternoon, how do you think the news affects competitors like $AMD? Is there a direct correlation (regardless of news, simply price movement into tomorrow)?

Bought IIPR a cannabis REIT with a 3.3% dividend yield for a long-term play. Business profile,
"ownership and management of specialized industrial properties leased to experienced, state-licensed operators for their regulated medical-use cannabis facilities. Innovative Industrial Properties, Inc. intends to elect to be taxed as a real estate investment trust."
Looking at the sector ETF ticker MJ for a long-term play.

You could straight short but I can't borrow it on my broker. 80% of the time here you make 100% on that call sale as TLRY comes back to earth a little in the next 9 days.
You can cover these $50-$80 sold calls for $2-$5 now depending on what strikes you got. TLRY is $130 now and I don't think it's going back to $230 but may as well close it for an easy 90-95%.

Someone want to explain the MDXG price action to me?

Today we find out that the board has:
- fired the CEO, COO, CFO and VP controller for cause after completing an internal investigation for fraud and criminal activity
- demanded clawbacks on the stock and salary compensation given to those execs, which is something I have never heard of before
- must restate 5 years worth of earnings by Feb 2019 or they get delisted
- the firing for cause was directly related to the possible fraudulent earnings reports given the past 5 years
- the execs must procure their own attorneys and are barred from using company resources for hiring them

Stock popped 28% on this obviously bullish news (profit taking causing it to only be up 4% as of now). It's as if everything is bullish and God has decided that short sellers aren't allowed to win anymore.

It sounds like you're being sarcastic but all those points do sound bullish to me

Bullish except for the fact that earnings that the company has been valued on for the past 5 years are fraudulent.

Haven't followed it at all but def seems reasonable for the stock to surge if they're otherwise legit but had internal fraud issues priced in. Obv if this was all a complete shock it should get hammered on the news, but if that many insiders were involved there's no way they all kept it a secret.

Gonna keep an eye on Canopy Rivers (RIV.vn in Canada, CNPOF elsewhere). Looks like an investment fund from WEED and everything they're touching is turning to gold right now. I could see an argument that their diversifying in to other opportunities might even be a negative. I could see this acting like HMMJ which ppl used to laugh at.

khrnf is a contrarian play. While everyone else is focused on el norte, they are positioned to rule latin america. The management team includes former DEA Supervisor Matt Murphy, CEO Alvaro Torres (SNC-Lavalin Colombia) and former Mexican president Vincente Fox...

I'm unfamiliar with these warrants. If someone were to invest from US would they still be able to be issued these warrants? would the exchange handle it?

major grunch so apologize if been discussed already.....

i see google and facebook are leaving the tech sector this friday.. to join a sector i think called communication services...

not that when people say tech sector is 26%+ of S&P 500 index that doesn't include Amazon and Apple. now it won't include GOOG or FB (and won't be 26% either)

i did simple google search and am moderately familiar with S&P 500 sectors and sub-sectors... but i don't know. is this a brand-new sector/sub-sector that will house GOOG and FB (and maybe some other stocks).

i understand how XLK will deal with this change... but how is FSPTX (fidelity's very large technology fund) going to deal with this?

i guess i can just do further google.... but if anyone knows about whether GOOG and FB are moving to brand-new sector, i'd be appreciative...

something similar happened recent when real estate stocks were taken out of financial sector and given their sector (i think). they have always had their own sub-sector.

i'm interested in algorithm trading....... does anyone know who are the largest vendors/products for institituions?

my interest is in breaking up large orders into smaller orders... like if an insitution wants to sell 1MM shares of IBM. previously they might have phoned goldman sachs and had them arrange for a bunch of large investors (MF, HF etc.) to buy the shares.... now the institution could in theory sell 2500 shares per minute (not necessarily every minute but average that through a day... or 800 shares per minute over 3 days... all those numbers are kinda high. you might want to phone GS for some of the order.

my interest is not such things individual traders might be interested in
