VXX would have had a gain of 514% and UVXY 1544% during the GFC 1) had they existed and had you timed it perfectly on both 2) the buy and 3) the sell.

During the GFC (that you magically predicted to the day), you'd have been on a wild ride given up because you are presumably human. They were up or down massive % every day. You'd have lost your damn mind even if I came back from the future and showed you a chart. UVXY was down about 80% at one point during the GFC ride.

They also tend to lose between 5 and 15% (quite often much more) per month when there is not a GFC, so your timing better include Dr. Who or the Terminator regularly showing up on your doorstep with newspapers from the future. And make sure he brings some really good anxiolytics - you will need them.

They added some blockchain stuff, and that is the cause of their gains.

Think to yourself, "what company could add 'blockchain' to their business inexpensively and seamlessly?"

The answer should be clear, since only one company already has half of 'blockchain' in their name. This will save them a fortune in rolling out new signage. Drumroll, please!

So if you think you can predict the industry (beverages, cameras, food served with breasts and a smile), let alone the company, you're a smarter man than me.

In reality you don't have to predict. It's as simple as scanning premarket for blockchain announcement, and being a non-cuck by having a broker that lets you buy premarket. It usually runs higher

The shine has come off bitcoin a little lately so this may not be as strong a play as it was.

Was able to find a couple of things about the Japan bank with the crypto announcement - is Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (NYSE:MTU, TYO:8306) one of Japan's largest banks? From their graph on yahoo, it looks like they haven't done so well since the big bank crash in the US in 2008 - but their stock seems to have grown about 20% each of the last 2 years or so?

This bitcoin.com article says the bank is going to open their own exchange and issue this crypto - and then it says they're going to try to peg their crypto to the yen the way tether is pegged to the dollar, so that it won't rise in price?

A while ago, was looking to see what sort of real-life blockchain applications big business has been developing - and saw something about blockchain technology showing lots of promise for helping companies like Walmart better keep track of shipments?

And then it seemed like there were a lot of banks who have been exploring using blockchain technology to try and improve digital payment systems - is that maybe what MTU may be trying to do ... like are they hoping by keeping the price stable that it may help crypto catch on for shopping in stores?

So maybe not a gimmick use like Kodak - and no bump in share price either? Although MTU seems to be up 8% for the year - Mylife0115, have added your name to the contest sheet, so we'll be able to see if they wind up having any spike once the coins get issued

Noticed lots of people picking oil and gas stocks like ESV as some of their 10 picks for the contest ...

Sam, just like you, i have bought stocks based on the contest picks, for example, ESV, it turns out performing quite well but I don't know what reason behind it.

I luckily sold at the previous peak of EMH and rebought low, adding 40% shares to my portfolio. EMH recreational license is predicted to be announced in February; I can't see that not adding 30-50% to the share price. My prediction is $16 by June; I will liquidate some at $10 and liquidate fully prior to legislation on July 1, when market realism will start to be defined clearly, dropping most prices imo. There's also an ETF for Canadian marijuana stocks available in USD for passive investors: HMLSF.

Wish I had bought some of these when they were sub $1 last year, could have easily realized a few 100 bangers. Hindsight is 20/20.

Hoping for an AMD bust for earnings to get into contention, my other two shorts have been turning around nicely the past couple of weeks. The funny thing about picking it is I tried to go with 10 symbols no one had and missed that BooLoo had it on the long side (which has obviously been a great call).
