I had a good run by picking CDProjekt (Polish gaming company behind Witcher and GoG) which went almost x10 in 2 years and AMD (too little too late because I was too lazy to make account to trade international stocks beforehand but still benefited from the recent run). If I have strong feelings in the future I will post here (right now mainly invested in ETFs, some in AMD and some in company run by my friend from uni days).

Couldn't have imagined AMD would have a run like this given the slow down in crypto and certain names in the chip sector rolling over/stalling out. Still a heavily shorted name, some funds are taking a bath on this run and lucky I'm not one of them.
It seemed obvious to me they are a good bet once I started getting regular email and benchmarks from our customers who went for Ryzens instead of Intel and after reading a lot of opinions going basically like: "I can upgrade CPU after all those years as there is finally something giving significant performance gain after years of Intel tick-tocking in place". There was a lot of buzz about Ryzen and I think there will be more once it starts hitting datacenters.
I don't think desktop is completely dead because of gaming and data centers/cloud is surely not dead. AMD is likely to obliterate Intel there in coming years. I also like their CEO, the lady has amazing credentials, speaks to the point without exaggerating or marketing nonsense. Silicon Valley could really use her as a poster child of a successful woman in tech who is there by merit alone and doing amazing job at turning things around for previously "dead" company.
