what should my expectation be? what should my expectation be?

i view myself as experienced poker player. the first time i played poker it made me feel alive, just the way the guy felt in "Rounders" the movie when he said he felt alive when he sat at poker table.

i was able to work/do papers at college and play at same time and it was wonderful because i looked forward to getting to the lab and studying and playing at same time.

i have been thru a lot tho because of poker variance and life. now I have just gotten a raiseonce membership to see how players play today and i have the next 3 months free (i recently got laid off).

So with a $1700-2000 starting bankroll what should my expectation be? if i have great tools to grind for the next 3 month.

I am proficient at most of the games and have a talent for 1 on 1 play... i have beaten some games for over 8bb/100 over a 30-50k hand stretch before....... ive seen many sick situations.... i guess i do have a talent for games like poker where many factors come into play along with gambling.

Could i spread this bankroll accross 4 different sites (games ill grind):

Bovada: $700 (games played: $50nl, 1/2 - 2/4 fixed, 25plo, $5 or less mtt's/sngs)

ACR: $400 ( 25 plo8 and maybe bumhunt some micos or fish)

SWC and Betcoin: $800 (these sites are newer with less action but extremely easy cashout/deposit and can find super high rakeback (35% and 78% respectively).... not too much game goes on so my goa with this $800 is to game select religiously here and grind the available micros.....could potentially win a lot but also super high variance)

What do u guys think of this plan i have for the next 3 months before ill find a job? What is my chances of failure? Chances of success?

I hope to be able to grind this $2000 to $15,000- 25k in the next 3 months putting in avg of 6-10 hours everyday..... (also i need to consider that $800 of this roll i will need to convert to bitcoin which goes up and down.... it has gone up over $1000 before and gone down $1000 as well....so lots variance i have goign on here).

Long read I know

cliffs: Spreading $2000 across 4 sites to grind out. Trying to grind $15- 20k within 3 months. Quite experienced player with all the tools and weapons at my disposal.

I am going to be quite blunt but realistic. Please do not take this as me bashing you as that is not my intention. I hope to keep your hopes realistic so you wont be making any rash decisions with only a very small chance of succeeding.

Your chances of success are very close to 0. You dont really have as much experience as you think and are probably not as proficient as you think. "i have beaten some games for over 8bb/100 over a 30-50k hand stretch before" this pretty much says you have very little experience. Anyone can win 8bb/100 over a 50K stretch by simply getting lucky.

Also with a bankroll of 2000$ you can pretty much play 50NL at max (kind of iffy if you want to make a living on this roll). But at this game you cant really expect to make anywhere close to 15K in 3 months.

Tbh I would focus on getting better and first getting yourself a record of beating the games over the long run. I dont know you but the line you quoted before leads me to believe you might be a long term losing player (otherwise why not quote results over say 200K hands instead of just small samples?). After that set yourself a goal for winning at a higher rate and then move up.

Poker is a marathon, not a sprint. But too many people try to make it into a sprint by setting themselves short term goals like these.

I used the 50k hand sample because over 300k - 1m hands i definitely cannot obtain a 8 or greater bb/100 rate.

I would really like to be able to beat the games for over 8bb/100 for the next 3 months!

Pretty much everyone wants this. The question is how are you going to achieve it?

As told, I would put this at less than 2% chance of succeeding.

The poker players in these threads gave you some solid expectations that I agree with. I don't know what the odds are anymore but in any gambling game that is beatable the odds of success is very slim. 12 years ago when I first started playing for a living the odds went some thing like this. 5% of poker players quit there jobs to be pros and 1% of those who do will make it to the 2ND year and 1% of those who made it past the first year will make it past the 2ND year and for the 3rd year 1% of those guys will make it there and if you make it past that then the chances of you being a pro for the rest of your life is almost always. So for the responder to say your chances are almost none is pretty accurate. I don't want to be the one to tell someone what they can or can't do even if I knew who you were. I was that guy who everyone doubted me and made fun of me. I been doing this for a long time and I had many friends who have been a pro through out my 12 years and I only have 1 of those friends who are still active but wants to keep a job even though he's a winner long term and a big winner at that. GL and I hope you appreciate everyone being honest with you. Just remember one thing you will be behind the curve so you will have to work harder then everyone else works. BTW to make it you should specialize in one form of poker not 4-5 forms and the reason I say this is because you don't want to be a Jack of all trades master of none. Jack of all trades while in many fields can make a living will not make doctor money. People in there respective fields who are a master in there fields make the most money , but I thi K how understand where I am coming from and that little advice right there will put you on the right track to having a chance if you do have any chance at it. GL hope it works out for you!!!!

Sounds like solid advice from everyone. I am not a pro by any means but I do make money playing poker. I know others that played for a living and a couple of them struggled to keep their focus. Also, good friend of mine had just quit his job to play full time online and Black Friday happened. That locked up a good portion of his bankroll for quite a while. Nothing like Black Friday would happen again (let's hope not) but you have to be prepared for surprises. I feel everyone has given you some straight up advice that should help you make your decision. If you start to play full time I wish you the best of luck!
