since you're not uploading them, max out settings, it will take longer to compress at the end but the quality will be superior

also are you using camtasia, or camstudio (open source)

this.

use camtasia, max settings, and when compressing...do so as a .wmv (it will take about 12hrs of compression for every 1hr of play)...but well worth it. my 1hr vids generally come out to about 160MB (much better than the 700MB it wud be as a .avi).

hope that helps

Many people are able to watch AVI files with WMP (quality is the same in AVI and WMV file). So alternatively, when you've recorded and have the .camrec file, right-click it and extract to AVI, this takes only 10 seconds or so, and the AVI file size remains the same as .camrec file size, still only ~160mb (as *SS* mentioned).

I made two videos showing how to set up recording using only free programs and compressing your files into either .flv or .wmv. Usually my sessions come out to be about 2MB per minute and have awesome quality. Camtasia is great, but way over priced when you can do all of the same stuff with Camstudio and other programs for free. Here are the videos. If you have issues PM me.

How to make a video

Oh, and compressing a 2 gig 45 min file takes me about 30-40min.

Is anyone else having trouble with getting the sound in sync with the video?

Did you watch my second video? It talks about audio/video desync and an easy way to fix it after the fact.

Also I have not tested it out yet, but you can try us 10fps and then setting the "Capture Frames Every" to 100.
