Studygroup question: how to have a productive meeting. Studygroup question: how to have a productive meeting.

Hi guys,

With some friends from a Dutch forum, we started a small stakes cash-game study-group. We want to meet at least once a week online, but we wonder how to get a productive meeting when we arrange.

Does anyone has suggestions how to have a productive meeting in a studygroup?

Something like Webex might be decent for this. Skype can work fine though.

I would take 33-55% of the group and have them each come up with 1-4 topics for each meeting. Rotate who makes up the topics, and make sure everyone has the topics at least 48 hours before you begin.

Then just follow the outline.

So say you have 8 guys in the group: Adam, Ben, Chris, Dan, Edgar, Fred, Greg, Henry

A-D comes up with 3 topics each and you just list them in random order (or if it's something like preflop play 15bb deep, and someone else has postflop play 15bb deep, it makes sense to put those together with preflop first). Next meeting, E-H will come up with topics.

Go through each of the points one by one during the session. Feel free to dick around and chat more after the session, that way everybody has their value out of the way first, and anyone that wants to get more personal can hang around, others can feel free to leave.

I've seen a ton of study groups fail, and few succeed. The above gives you the best chance to be the latter imo.
