Hey all

Been thinking for ages I should invest in myself to get some training. And I'm after your advice. Simply put should I invest in the RIO essentials or Upswing lab. Obvious there is a price difference but based on what you guys have seen/used do you know a better option?

Me:
Mediocre microstakes cash game player, briefly dabbled in micro tournies before PS left AUS. Now playing on True Poker where there is enough micro potential so far in 2nl/10nl stakes for multi tabling and min tabling 5nl. Before this I've always been a real slow winner, like probably 2-4bb/100. So whilst I am winning player I want to learn and improve more. I have tried to watch as much free content as I can but some of it is good, most is teasers and its all over the place. So I thought I need something more structured to get my mind and learning focus in a line.

Spoiler:
Based on what I think RIO essential will offer me more at the moment where I can take 5bi of 5nl and invest that into this

Both are good investments you can't go wrong either way. I would also chose Runitonce essential but Upswing has the advantage of being more structured to learn. If you are subscribed to Upswing newsletter be on the lookout for some discounts, they have it a couple of times per year.

From the ground up on Run it once is probably the best choice for you

Go with upswing, RIO content is a lot more solver based. I started out on RIO and found most of the videos were way over my head. Upswing however have like a structure that will bring you along and give you a better understanding of the concepts.

The From the ground up course on RIO with Pete Clarke is very good starting point also but that is separate from the monthly subscription but definitely worth getting first if you are going to go with RIO.

So I had a look at this from the group up. It looks a bit basic if I can even say that not having bought it. But from what I can see its a lot of stuff that I know (but could obviously review and learn again). I view myself as decent with a good knowledge base. It is just when and how I apply my knowledge to the games I play. I think ATM I think to GTO/Balanced for the dumb people of the micro world hence why I am trying to change.
I reviewed my bb/100 2nl is 7bb/100 and 5nl is 1bb/100 (small sample) for the year on WPN.

My worries is the upswing is 99 which whilst is investing in myself is a lot of the chunk of my "BR". But then is the high price mean an increase in value of the education? Or does the lack of poker played by one of the leaders mean the content isn't as up to date as RIO?

AHHHh so many variables to think about.

TBC....
