I've seen a few coachs that I will be getting coaching from in the future, however I often wonder if peopel actually sell there personal coaching session videos with said coach. It would work out alot cheaper, but not sure if its allowed or if i'm opening up a can of worms here but would it be bad if i pvt messaged student of these guys and ask to buy there video sessions?

not sure if its allowed on 2p2 or at all but, would definatley be +ev for cheapos

Not usually, since coaches get paid 1.5-3x more per hour they spend making videos on average when they release public videos.

However, you could ask for a discount in exchange for allowing the coach to use the video publicly himself.

For example, if the coach charges $100hr, maybe he could give you a discount so it costs $50-75hr, then he can do what he wants with the video (and in that case maybe he sells it to another site for another $50-100hr or uses it himself).

It would most certainly be pretty shady in my opinion to do any of this without talking to the coach. Particularly PMing their students (that's spam on 2p2 too). You'd really be violating standard trust, and generally coaches specify (though it's almost an unsaid truth) that the videos are by default private videos to give to the students, not videos given to the students to resell if they wish.

So just talk it over with the coach after going over a list of options that you feel are good for you, but also make sense for the coach to do (just asking for $$ off or the rights to resell the video without anything in it for the coach isn't likely to get them excited about coaching you).

I disagree with Chicago.

1) When i do a video for pokerstrategy.com it takes me time to prepare the concept, think what i wanna say etc. Since it is made for many people it is more complicated. I need more time and get paid more of course.

2) When i do a video for a student OR when a student simply records our session (which i encourage), then it takes me exactly one hour to do that.
It's better for the student because we can specifically talk about HIS issues. This automatically *could* lower the value for the masses.

Most students don't make the video public, since they paid for it...

If they did, they have my full permission. If you pay for it, then it's yours.

(this does not apply to the courses, since you pay to watch the vids. If you pay me to make a vid specifically for yourself, it is yours and you can do whatever you want with it)

It's great that your business model ends up working out in this way, thanks for adding your thoughts.

The coaches I'm thinking of (I don't coach anymore, so I'm speaking more about the few dozen coaches I work with), a lot of the advantage in the model they use, is that they actually give the students a discount off their coaching rate to use the video in any way the coach chooses (usually with an option to block out the usernames).

As a business owner I've even used this approach with a lot of success. Low stakes players and players new to the game get more familiar and interested in the game by seeing free videos of low stakes type students. Low stakes students that can't afford high hourly rates or even moderate hourly rates, get a big discount on 1 on 1 coaching from a solid coach, and the coach gets paid from two sources (student and business), which gets them more than they usually get from 1 on 1 coaching alone.

But I can see a lot of differences between the guys I'm thinking about and you that can make your model best for you and their model best for them. For one, SNGs is where I'm familiar with, and the coaches I'm talking about are dealing with low stakes guys (and charging $50-150 to their students). You're a higher range coach at $350-400hr type coaching rate, so I'd imagine you coach lots higher stakes players, which throws a kink in a few of the points of the model I talk about (low stakes, targeting other low stakes players, free information, etc.).
