Hello,

I believe I am a break even or slight winning player at the 1/2 nl hold em tables and can't seem to breakthrough to a consistent winner. My biggest downfalls IMO is making too many loose calls pre-flop(examples being playing suited connectors for too much money pre-flop, playing suited gappers for too much money pre-flop, playing unsuited connectors for a raise pre-flop, or playing bigger hands too passively pre-flop and having to fold to pressure post flop if i hit or don't hit) I generally play these hands if i become impatient and just thinking i have huge implied odds if it happen to hit. However 95% of the time i obviously don't hit and i'm forced to fold. This is clearly taking little chunks out of my stack that adds up over time. I also have the tendency to maybe call a raise to @10 for example after limping for $2 with any 2 suited cards in hopes of flopping a fd! Once again i usually don't or miss if i do and waste more money. My main question is, how can i resist these donkish hands and minimize my losses? When is it correct to play these hands and which ones? I know all about the value of position in nl hold em and i'm beginning to utilize it even more, but it doesn't seem to be good enough. I also play way too passively post-flop and i'm missing value on some of my bigger hands. An explanation on some great post-flop strategy would be much appreciated or a link to a good thread would be great. Standard buy-in is 100bb and i'm a college student playing on a limited bank roll(2k) I know this isn't enough but i'm not playing full-time and do have a job that's not poker. Thanks in advance for any help!

What kind of implied odds are needed to play any of these hands? Suited connectors, unsuited connectors, etc... Is it always correct to fold any 2 suited cards if there are 5-6 other calls and i'm getting 8-1 pot odds with a call now? Should i muck all of these hands pre if not opening for a raise and take away the opportunity to limp call a raise?
