I am looking for an online coach to advise me on which GTO solvers and charts to use, and how best to study with them/interpret their results.

I have a strong background in math/probability theory and play live or online deep stack games.

If you're looking for a coach with good reviews / playing mid stakes but not as expensive, I'm probably your guy. My coaching thread is sticky in that section of the forum (Francach).

While there are lots of good coaches (Such as ColliePoker above or QY himself, you could probably start with a GTO Wizard subscription and use their learning plans, which provide structure and include an introduction to GTO, progress path that builds upon itself, drills, and training videos.

Between their private (subscribers only) and public (Youtube channel) training videos, they provide a TON of high quality content that can help you learn and build GTO fundamentals. They also have a very helpful community on the GTO Wizard discord that can help with any questions they have.

GTO Wizard is the market leader for GTO, with a massive library of solutions for various stack depths, structures, rakes and other things. They have also recently added custom solving and nodelocking, giving them an even bigger edge over traditional desktop based solvers.

Perhaps for some poker players, diving right into GTO theory and practice itself may be too much, but for someone with a strong background in math and probability, you should be totally fine.

Agree with pretty much 100% of what you said, except you can nodelock with a desktop solver. Wizard does have AI now too (Ruse), although tbh I'm not really sure how to apply it to greater effect than just simplifying solutions myself.

My dad does very math-y economics for a living and when I was growing up I remember he said "I would hate going to math class. Like, just give me the textbook."

I always found that odd because it's not how I learn best.

But different strokes for different folks! Ultimately some people can learn just as well on their own, or close to it. Definitely with solvers now all the information players need is technically out there. Although knowing what to prioritize can be a little hard.

Yeah I guess I should've explained more what I meant with the "bigger edge" comment.

I know that traditional desktop solvers have always been able to nodelock. GTO Wizard not having that capability was one of the biggest things holding them back in comparison to desktop solvers. But now that they have it, they have a bunch bigger advantage over desktop solvers, because anything a desktop solver can do, Wizard can also do, but with more ease and better analysis tools.

You are lucky, I really wish I came from a stronger math background. I remember frequently hitting an intellectual wall in highschool and university as math got more difficult, and I feel the same with poker. I would probably be a much better player if I was stronger mathematically and could better understand range interactions.
