Here is my story...
I have been playing some small local cash and tournies and have done very well.
Last month I went to Blackhawk and played in a qaulifing event, first 2 hours were horrible for me, fought my nerves and played scared, after getting comfortable was to late to make any good moves with the blinds moving up.
This last weekend went to a small tournie and faced the same fears, did place 13th out of 50.
I live in a small town where there is no casinos, closest ones are 5 hours away and I know I need more quality table time.
Question is how do I face this fears just making some tournies from time to time with a limited bank roll?

I'm no expert, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

Tournaments are a higher variance endeavor, meaning there is high fluctuation in the outcome: you usually walk away with nothing, but sometimes score pretty well. High variance play is not good for small bank rolls.

If your bank roll is only a few tournament buy-ins, be prepared for the likely event of coming up empty. If that's okay, then go play and just relax and don't worry about the money; focus on playing. If that's not okay, try something else like home tournies or cash games.
