Is studying required to be a good player nowadays? I have 15 years experience and have been told that I must study more. I'm 🤔 nking it could be done if your fundamentals are extremely solid.

Plenty of 'live' pros get by with near Zero studying.

Plenty of 'live' pros get by with very limited studying.

Plenty of 'live' pros get by with a little bit of studying.

The on-line pros situation is a different story.

Generally you're best advised to study in order to improve at poker, as studying (regardless of live or online) will improve your ability, enjoyment and your bottom line. Studying with a coach is one option which should, if they are a good coach, accelerate your improvement at the game and save you time, grief and money, if you apply what you've learned well in-game.

There are also plenty of "live pros" who are not +EV players...
