Hi,

i was playing recently in WSOP sponsored event, UTG i raise my pocket aces to 1200 (blinds 150/300). I have about 12,000 chips.

A player in the middles pos and the button calls me. Pot is about 4300 including the antes blinds.
Flop comes J,8,9 with two spades. Dangerous flop for me i thought. Went all in for remaining 12,000.
Button calls and he shows AQ spades and needless to say turn and river are spades.

Was my play correct? What there a better stratergy than that play?

Abe

Smaller pre...between 2-2.5x would be better...
bet 2.9k on the flop and call it off.

You didnt need to go all in on that flop, I would have bet close to the pot size, and done the same type of bet on turn as long as it didnt help a str8 draw. When another spade would have came out on the river its an easy fold. Remember once you go all in you committed all those chips.
