Coach for NL5 & up worth it? Coach for NL5 & up worth it?

Currently I'm playing nlhe on stars, breakeven player on 5nl. I would like to find a coach that is equally dedicated to help me improve as I am in improving. (Long term coach)
Due to illness I'm home from work which gives me the opportunity to dedicate a lot of time to poker.

Is it worth to have a coach at this limit or should I spend the time on my hands (re)reading books & watching the videos on a training site?

I would suggest getting a Run it once subscription , and watch Essential videos.

The alternative is to join a coaching for profits program where you get the benefit of personal attention from a coach while also only paying when you win.

Studying on your own and getting a course/subscription is the cheapest option of course, but not necessarily the fastest way to move up in stakes.

getting a coach for NL5 is ok but make sure its a long term agreement, a profitshare deal or a staking deal that includes coaching. This way you will get good coaching and you can ensure that the coach cares about your success

Learning poker is more than just being told how to play certain spots by a winning player.

When you work with a coach, they should notice problems in your game that you can't learn about from just watching videos.

Common mistakes I see being made by players that I never see being discussed in videos would be players rushing, players playing more tables than they can cope with leading to them sleepwalking through every session, misapplication of HUD stats and plenty more small idiosyncrasies.

I think if you want to come up as a player these days, you can't do it by watching videos. You need to be part of something else too. Study groups are good. They give you an opportunity to discuss the game (hopefully with better players) and clear up any problems you have by misapplying things you have learned etc.

Building up a contact list and having meaningful interaction with other players is important IMO. If you don't have that, taking some coaching and joining study groups either ran by a coach, or ones that contain experienced players is a good way to extend your poker circle.
